You never knew just how good a team was gonna be, we always knew we had a chance to compete against any team we faced. Nowadays, it’s so professional, we know who has the teams, the coaches, the recruits. It’s all professional imo. It’s kinda like people referring to anyone under 18 as a kid. Well friendly advice here , go watch 15 so called KIDS bigger than you behind locked doors and get back with me on that. Anyways it is professional. Look what Saban just signed an extension contract for what 11mil a year. The college landscape has changed and will never be the same, we’ll always struggle to get back up to a level playing field with these guys. It’s almost unfair.

OP is hitting on some unfortunate truths here . The fans need to accept that we are a mid tier program now and a great season for us is 9-3. We haven’t been elite since 2001. We are like Nebraska now. Do any of you guys realistically see us winning the SEC anytime soon? and btw it’s been 24 years since we last did that. We haven’t won the East or 10 games since 2007 I had a full head of hair back then.

What program wouldnt have sucked under the leadership of dooley, kiffin, butch and pruitt over the span of over 10-12 years? We have all the resources to become a top program again. Just made bad hires. But sure, act like what youre saying is the truth

Yeah the system is very "rich get richer" now. The fact that we have to play Georgia and Bama every year will prevent us from ever being more than a 9-3 or so team. We will never reach a natty again. Just gotta learn to live with it.

Truth. Some fans on here don’t want to hear it but it’s true and it sucks. My dad is 76 it’s very likely he will never see another SEC title or national title again, may never see another win over Bama. The new NIL system will just ensure the rich get richer and some teams like us will never be able to achieve better than a 8-4 or 9-3 season. We are permanently bunched in with South Carolina, Mizzou , Kentucky and Arkansas level teams.

I don't think the NIL hurts us that much, we have as deep of pockets as anyone else, but at the end of the day the transfer portal lets the Bamas of the world poach the best players from other teams. Why play at Tennessee for NIL money when you can go to Bama, get NIL money AND a shot at a championship AND every NFL scout watching you?

It’s going to be a monumental task for us to beat and overcome Georgia and Bama and win the SEC in this decade. It’s just not likely at all and I’ve accepted that and what this program is now.

Maybe it's because I'm too young to remember the good ole days but honestly going 9-3 or 10-2 every year would be fine by me. I don't even care about championships anymore, I just don't want to be the laughing stock of the SEC anymore. I want the big boys to at least not just write us off as a free win every year.

Plus if they ever expand the playoff, a lucky 10-2 season might be enough to get us in.
