USCocks worst 6-2 SEC team in recent memory

So since we had the #12 class last year, the #6 class 3 years ago, and top 25 classes every year since 04, we don't have players to compete??? I'm a douche, because I see that we have players that are ready to compete. I'm a douche because I see that our team has improved since 1999 dramatically, to the point where our athletes are as good if not better then yours. You are weak, and very uneducated on teams outside of your Tennessee Volunteers, and it's hard to argue with a simpleton.

LMAO at your delusionss. Are you implying you are as talented as the top tier teams in the SEC????? LOLOLOLOL

At that graveyard of your's you will need numerous consecutive top 5 classes to do anything significant.

Excitement about the game? It's fun to hear the other teams thoughts. Of course I won't agree, and I don't expect to. I just expect more middle ground, but there isn't any. I mean I think i finally figured out why, but none of you would admit to it.

Maybe because a good portion of this board is sick of the 5million trolls that have loomed here this week. No other school is that bad. There is a good middle ground. We have plenty of posters who are fans of rival teams and we get along just fine. I have heard more trash talk on this board from SC fans this week than I did for both Bama and UF combined. The "number5iscoming4u's" on this board makes a bad name for everyone because they are unreasonable and honestly childish. At the end of the day it is a message board and every message board will always have their idiots.

you are getting better, you've beaten UT twice in those 10 years and just ended a losing streak to Vandy. Can't wait to see what happens next.

You know how excited you guys have been about the near misses against Florida and Alabama? Well thats how our program has been for 9 years. Near misses. Can you count the games you have had against us that has come down to the final drive over the past 9 years? Same with UGA. We have been so close to taking it over the top, but we always come one play short. Now we have players that can put us over the top. We have a legit QB. We have a legit core or WR. We have 4 very serviceable RB. We have a top TE. Our D has always been at a top level, and still is. We have depth, depth that we have NEVER had, even in the year we were #2 in the nation, and a win over navy away from being #1, and vying for a national championship we didn't have the depth we do now. We are almost there, i'm not sure how much longer it will take us, maybe this year, but we will be there soon.

I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting that SC hasn't improved since going 0-11 back in '99. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves. You're still a 7-5 program.

So, it's hilarious to anyone outside Columbia to hear your fanbase toss out words like "powerhouse", "sleeping giant", or "champions."

You keep barking about those top 25 recruiting classes you've had each of the last 4 years. How many teams have you had finish in the top 25 during that span?

You can hope all you want, but nothing is going to change the fact that your is program is, was, and always will be insignificant.

I was only reading this board, with no intention of EVER posting, until I saw the absolute thrashing of my institution. Every thread seems to be something negative about my alma mater. Once I saw this, I had to apply to be a member to atleast defend my school. There was no sense in some of the posts, absolutely treacherous post, that showed that many posters on this board lack any tact. I have tried to stay on topic and defend my school, but get bombarded with attempts to put words in my mouth, or only read part of what I say. I enjoy conversing with you all, but some have a horrible grasp of reality and what is important.

To be fair it's been the last 5 years of top recruiting classes. And as i've said before there are only 13 teams that have had 5 straight years of this consistent recruiting. So most teams aren't consistently recruiting at a top level. With these past 5 years, we have gained depth never seen before in Columbia, and it's really exciting. Especially knowing that we only have 8 seniors on the ENTIRE team. So we are only going to get better. Facing hard nose teams like UT this weekend will only make SC stronger for future games.

Just to add numbers with what i'm saying about recruiting: Rivals

2002: #11
2003: #08
2004: #35
2005: #23
2006: #24
2007: #06
2008: #22
2009: #12

This has led to this depth i'm talking about. I'm hoping it leads to more then 7 W's a year here soon. Let me be honest, 10 years ago I would have done anything to consistently be bowl eligible.

Here's the thing...you're not special. We do that for every team we play. Yeah, Western Kentucky included. The difference is, you guys take offense and put up pitiful attempts at defending yourselves. It brings out both the logical folks with their stats, and the immature folks with their jokes. Which brings up more pitiful defensive posts. And the cycle escalates. If you don't want to read about your little school getting trashed, find another board to haunt (see what I did there? 'Cause it's Halloween tomorrow?)

Very festive. This board has 2339 users right now, so it's a very active board, so i found it very attractive. You're right, if i don't like it then leave. But it's hard to leave when things are one sided, so i enjoy debate. When there is a chance to defend something, I will always do it. I'll tell you when i'm mistaken, or straight up wrong. But I have a feeling you guys like to debate as well, if not you wouldn't be on this thread talking to me.

Cursed: The dreaded Chicken Curse has haunted South Carolina ever since the Gamecocks started playing football more than 100 years ago. Legend has it that they’ve been doomed to mediocrity. Only twice in school history have they ever won more than eight games. And in their best season, which saw them start out 9-0 and go to No. 2 in the polls in 1984, they somehow managed to lose to Navy.

South Carolina is considered a Coaching graveyard, but there has to be a reason that such high profile coaches keep coming to SC. It has been termed a sleeping giant by many analysts and other coaches. There are plenty of reasons for this. It is much like Florida from the pre spurrier coaching era. We have a 80,000+ stadium, great fans. Not only that, With a population that ranks 24th in the nation, SC somehow manages to have the 7th most players from it's state in the NFL. We rank 3rd among states with players in the NFL per capita. We compete in the best conference in the NCAA, and we have great national exposure due to SEC deals, and great regional exposure due to our exclusive deal with SportsSouth. You can laugh all you want about our past, but you know as well as I do, that South Carolina can become a powerhouse. It might be sooner then later.....

You are correct.

You are a member of the best conference. Doesn't mean you compete for it.

Playing on Thursdays isn't as great of an honor as you think. There is a reason the major teams stick to the weekend.

If two NC winning coaches can't make it a powerhouse, then I'm not too sure it will ever be. Historically it has not.

Wow all of that "talent" and nothing to show for it. :clapping:

Including this Saturday, 7 of the 9 games will be televised nationally. One game was on FSN, the other on PPV. Only two games on Thursday Night, including the first game of the season (we have a deal with ESPN, we have one more opening game left with them) And we have an exclusive deal with SportsSouth, to where they show something like 91 USC events a year. EVERY SINGLE GAMECOCK BASKETBALL GAME IS ON TV. Good thing we play the vols twice a year, that means you'll get to be on tv those two days. (JK i know you'll be on cbs, SECNetwork, and espn some games) Sports South also reshows every gamecock game at 7 on Sundays. We have great exposure. And the two NC winning coaches have built a great base at SC. Now we need to take the next step.

You're the type of poster i've been talking about. I've said we are building to something we've never done before. All you can do is tear down. It's either because you are worried about where your program is, scared you will lose this weekend, or just dick of a person to be around.

2007 and 2009 were obviously pretty good classes for you guys, but to be a power in this conference, you are going to have to finish top 10 every year. Why do you think we dropped off the map so much? With the staff we have, I'm expecting top 3 classes every year and at worst top 10 every now and then. That's what it takes to beat the elite. You guys, much like us right now, are still lagging by top tier SEC standings. One really good class every so often won't cut it in this league.

Wasn't the 2007 season the one where Spurier had two Heisman candidates on his team and then ruined them with 6-6 record after starting 6-1?

I'm a dick, but I'm also a realist. SC will continue to fight Kentucky for 4th best in the east.

I'm not expecting to much this year, with only 8 seniors. But it would be nice to say we had a top 10 recruiting class the past 5 years, instead of a top 25 class. The SEC is definitely the class of College football.

I can't think of any 6-2 SEC team more mediocre than this one. They have a good pass defense and that's about it. Once we squash their invisible running game, Garcia will be a turnover machine. Then it's Hardesty and Brown up the middle for huge yards with a little playaction.

I guess after this week you will be saying we are the worst 7-2 team

Oh, and every team in the SEC has a deal with ESPN. It's called the SEC Network. SC is just so mediocre that you all compete with the WAC, MWAC, C-USA, and ACC for Thursday night games.

I'd love to know the heisman candidates your speaking of? Sidney Rice I can understand, are you taking about Ko Simpson as the other? We've had good players the past few years, but hardly anyone that should have won the heisman.

Haha, Yes there is a deal with the SEC and ESPN, also that deal includes the SEC Network and even FSN games, but what i'm talking about is different, when spurrier signed on in 05, we started a contract with opening kick off games. Like I said I think there is one left in the contract. You can make it into whatever you want, but South Carolina does get national love, and regional love. I don't know any basketball team in the nation that has every single basketball game available to over 11 million viewers, over 8-11 states.
