So with all of the talk about OSU not wanting to go to Rose Bowl against Utah, isn't that assuming that USC beats Utah on Saturday? So, what happens if Utah knocks them off, and therefore presumably out of the CFP, wouldn't USC then go to the Rose Bowl, against OSU? If that happens, then TN vs. Dabo still happens in the Orange??

Well OSU would go to the playoff under that scenario and Penn State goes to the Rose. Utah would also go to the Rose. The only issue is that USC could knock us out of the Orange. It would be very close. Best case scenario is that Utah lays waste to them, but I don't think Lincoln RIley is going to let that happen.

actually usc would drop below us with 2 losses......unless the committee just hates us that much. but somewhere in the chain it would make our florida victory better because florida beat utah and we beat florida.

No, if Utah beats USC, Utah would go to the Rose Bowl. Pac 12 Champion at that point. And you’d have an 11-2 USC team fall from #4 to somewhere between #5 and #7, making them pretty much a shoe-in for the only open at-large spot in the Cotton Bowl.

What? The Orange Bowl contractually has to be ACC vs SEC/Big10/Notre Dame. It can’t invite USC.

We really need Utah to win this game to keep us out of the Cotton Bowl. If LSU beats UGA the Orange will take Bama over us 100%.

LSU winning is a scary prospect as either Tennessee or Penn State will likely miss out on an NY6 bowl despite a two-loss season.

I'm just curious if Utah wins, then it gives USC two losses, and I had a couple of people in the Heisman thread telling me no two loss QB can win. They said Caleb Williams is absolutely going to win it now, Hooker is definitely out with two losses, but Williams would be out with their logic also.

*Yes, I'm fishing, but they never answered that question in the Heisman thread 😁

Purdue beating UM by 14+, USC losing in any fashion, and KState beating TCU by 21+ gets the BIG ORANGE IN!!

For the millionth time, it doesn't count as fishing if you're hiding in the bait bucket eating the bait.

If this season has taught me anything, it's that we are the national champs of scenarios.
Amen on that brah, amen!

So, I got USC going down.

And those crazy cajuns get liquored up and beat UGA. Same game they beat us at in 2001.

Obviously, TCU is going to get blown out by Kansas State.

Much like MCG last year, Purdue pulls the upset over Meatchicken.

North Carolina outclaases Clemson who is out of gas

We end up with Ohio State playing Vols in Fiesta Bowl

Georgia vs Bama in the Chil-Fil-A Bowl

Fairly straight forward.

So the Orange would pick a team with a fan base 3,000 miles away? Not if they have a brain in their head.

No. They won't do that.

But, they will put Ohio State against Clemson. That is the easy pick.
I believe we were talking as if USC lost against UTAH. OSU would then be in the play off and it would be between UT and USC to go to the Orange Bowl.

Oh. That would send Utah to Rose Bowl. USC vs Clemson in the Orange Bowl?

Well, that would certainly be an odd game to have scheduled.

With all the great games out west, I can't hardly imagine a west coast team in the Orange Bowl.

Maybe the Cotton Bowl.

USC can’t play in the Orange Bowl. If USC loses to Utah, USC drops to the Cotton Bowl and the Vols are out in the cold unless the committee slots Alabama behind Tennessee.

Really, any of the top four teams losing likely relegates Tennessee to the Citrus Bowl unless the losing team falls to #7.
