I know USC is one of, if not THE best programs in the nation.....but I just read something in Bruce Feldmans mail bag in his blog from a SC fan that really makes me wonder if they have a VERY inflated perception of how "dominant" their team has been. They have had good bowl performances, but the fact of the matter is that for the past 4 years in a row, they have had regular season losses to teams that had no business beating them, or even keeping it close (Texas (maybe), UCLA, Stanford and Oregon State). I wonder if the majority of Trojan fans agree with this guy below.....I personally dont think they could have beaten the gators last year.....or kept the game any closer than the Sooners did. What do you think of this:

From Dick in Fort Mohave, Ariz.: You forget one thing when you compared the SEC to the Big 12 -- USC. The Trojans could have beat Florida at the end of last year and I'm sure they are the only team that could beat Texas, Oklahoma and Florida this year. I think that most of the voters are afraid to match USC against anyone in the SEC or Big 12 because it would destroy the myth of those two conferences.

It would have been an interesting game, I'll say that much. It's hard to bet against a Pete Carroll coached team with a month to prepare.

I never take anyone named Dick seriously.

lol @ any team in Pac 10 vs. our elite SEC teams. UF and Bama will destroy any of those lame teams.

Maybe.....but to say they could have beaten UF so matter-of-factly? Their loss to Oregon State was definitely a LOT worse than UF losing to what ended up being a top 10 team, and one of the hottest in the nation.

I'll put any amount of money on Bama or UF any day of the week against USC. They are a joke to the NCAA, put them in the ACC and I bet they'd not win the division.

When USC stops losing regular season games they should win easily, they can make a case, until then they can't. They play in a second rate conference compared to the sec. For that matter everyone does. Case closed.

Uh.....no. You are completely wrong there. UF would not come close to "destroying" USC this year.....and noway Bama does either. I wasnt meaning this thread to insinuate USC couldnt beat most of the SEC teams this year.....just surprising if their fans think they could beat UF, apparently, easily.

Like you stated when noting the Prophylactics record losing to far inferior teams, Dick is obviously a dick.

Oregon St. was a bowl team, and that game was on a Thursday night in Oregon... home teams tend to do pretty well in those games, and don't forget that Oregon State simply owns USC in Corvallis.

Alabama got destroyed by a team from the Mountain West last year

We got destroyed by Wyoming last year, but it's college football. I'm telling you that the West Coast doesn't compare to the East, period. We messed up against a horrible team, just as Bama did. That still doesn't take away the fact that they will be great again this year, and probably do better than last year.

What exactly is your definition of "destroyed?"

Check their record against legit teams and see what happens. Auburn would have beat them when they went undefeated and got screwed outta their national title. USC doesn't play anyone. check again.

Exactly how many legit teams are in the ACC?

Yeah, when they throttled Oklahoma for an NC, they sure were playing a nobody.

USC cleaned Auburn's clock in each of the two years before Auburn's undefeated season. If they matched up again in the NC game, I don't think it would have been much different.

What "legit" team has beaten USC in the past 6 years other than Texas?
