USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin

I dont think Tee would take the Tennessee job because of his wife. Although she really hasnt done anything in music for awhile so who knows? I would love for Tee to come to Tennessee.

I don’t think he’d come for an OC position under any coach, but think he’d jump at HC opportunity.

When all the dust settles, I'd like some sort of Martin/Cutcliffe combination on our newly rebuilt coaching staff.
It's all fine and good to "Spec. out" a new head coach.
Here ya go:
10 Years of HC experience in the NCAA, Top 5 winner with a championship record. Proven ability to recruit and develop players who can compete toe-to-toe with ANY program in the country week-in-week-out and BEAT BAMA.
Yup...that's the guy we want.
Problem is, he ain't out there, looking for a job. This ain't like going into a Ford dealership and "spec-ing out" a new pickup truck.
I wish Currie all the luck in the world on this one...he's going to need it. Fact is, he will have to take a chance on someone or just keep Hoke for another season. Currie's bottom line is that is he fails to hire the coach Tennessee needs, when that one goes...he'll be leaving with him and he knows it.
GO BIG ORANGE.

Yes, he is. About 530 miles northeast of Knoxville, to be exact. The same guy has a BCS National Championship on his resume.

You go get Mike Leach. He should have been hired on Saturday. He is a winner and would relish the opportunity to bring UT back to the top. He needs a chance.

Leach let it leak that he would accept the job if offered.....and Currie never has even made the attempt. Insane to me. Leach is a WAY better and proven head coach than Campbell, Brohm, or Norvell. Makes zero sense to not make the call to Leach. Especially after this Schiano mess. Gimme Leach or Les Miles now, and I'd atleast feel safe knowing we'll be much improved over the next few yrs than we have been under Butch. Currie has even reached out to Jeff Brohm today already. Smh. Going 6-6 at Purdue gets you a raise and the Tennessee Vols job? NO THANK YOU! Horrible choices happening now. I'd rather take a chance on Tee than go with Brohm. Crazy. Gettin real dang crazy, smh

I like him a lot. He'd be good. Sadly I read a few (not one but multiple) news articles staying Vols wouldn't hire him because he's black. I think that's bull$*** but I don't think he'll be next HC either...

People like leach are out guys. We are not getting any name guy. No one wants this job now. You have to go after low head coaches or assistants.

Or get on the Lane Train. Tee isn't ready he hasn't coached enough to handle it here.
I'd say bring Kiffin in for a few years then go get Tee next. It could hurt both sides if he comes now and fails instead of when he is ready.

If you can't get Gruden, and you can't get Cutcliffe with a HC in waiting.... Tee makes the most sense in my book.

We aren't getting a proven commodity, that's for sure if they were going after Schiano.

Take a swing for the fences and go get Tee:

- He's running the #10 offense in the country (per ESPN Stats)
- He is a filthy good recruiter (#2 recruiter in nation for both 2014 & 2015, #1 2016, #11 2017)
- Great look for Tennessee all around
- Brings together VFLS & fans... would have more infinitely support than anyone who isn't a 'Tennessee Guy'

Give the man a badass staffing budget and let's roll the dice.

If Tee got the HC everyone that loved the way he managed the team for the 98 NC. Would be starting Fire Tee threads in at least 3 years. He may get a honeymoon period. He would end up like Majors from 101% love to around 50/50. Just the facts of College HC. Why Peyton would never consider coaching here. It's a date with hate.

Disagree. I think most Tennessee fans would give Tee a very long leash, after what happened over the weekend.

Majors first 5 years were tough to take, but we knew that he was our guy and stuck with him for 16 seasons. When the change was made, it was more about keeping a young, talented CPF than it was to jettison Johnny.

When CPF was let go... for me, it seemed like an act of mercy. I thought he was going to stroke out, on the sideline, with the way his last team was playing. Personally, I felt sorry for him.

Kiffin would have been given the same long leash, because of Monte's history at UT from way back. (To me, and others, He's "Monte's kid.")

Dooley and Butch had no UT ties in their past... they didn't have the luxury of a fan base that was rooting for them, as much as we rooted for the team.

If Tee comes, the fans will be behind him for however long he wants to coach here. This weekend revealed that the problems at UT are with the administration and boosters. Fans know it... and we know that Tee would be walking into a behind the scenes sh!t-show.

We will root for him, to STAY... just as much as we will root for the team to win.

I wouldn't mind TM coming at all. He might take a few lumps early but we would have a VFL at the reins.

I think all the VFL's would be behind the hire, the fan base would be all in, and the recruiting would be some of the best in SEC. Huge upside all the way around IMO.

This thread should be pinned at the top! I’m all about sticking with our own from here on out. It’s been a downward spiral ever since we started bringing in coaches from the outside.

I'd be on board with Tee. Why not? At this point, what have we got to lose? Next season is probably going to suck anyway, might as well have a VFL on the sidelines.
