The Pac-12 plays 9 conference games and three OOC games.look for the trojans to compete for the n c. they have a lot of starters coming back, plus the pac 10 plays only 2 non- con teams next year. the trojans play hawaii and another cream puff as non cons. yes, they will have scholly reductions, but he piled up abunch of freshmen this past season.
USC only played 43 scholarship players versus Oregon.justingroves said:He beat Oregon with around 55 to 60 scholarship players.
This is true. However, we have a bunch of very good freshman and sophomores to help us ride through the storm. The lack of depth will be the toughest part.VolunteerVandiver said:Scholarship reductions will begin this year, I think.
Will make a very big impact on USC.
USC is limited to 75/total. We're able to take 15/year to attempt to stay at the 75 total, but the issue is that if we graduate more than 15, we won't be able to match the departing players with enough new ones. In that case, we may drop below 75.zjcvols said:Quick question:
Does that mean USC can only have 75 scholarships for the next couple years, or does that mean they lose 10 scholarships every year, eventually going from 85 to 75 to 65 and then 55 in three years?
The scholarship reductions will challenge Kiffin and co.'s recruiting reputations, because they can't afford to miss on many prospects. Alhough, that also means they can be much more selective in who they take.
This is the biggest issue, for sure.
By looking at our past classes, you can see exactly what we CAN'T have happen.
For example, the 2009 class:
Jarvis Jones - wouldn't be cleared medically, AA @ UGA
Frankie Telfort - heart problems forced him out of football
Byron Moore - unhappy and is now at UT
James Boyd - dismissed from team
Hebron Fangupo - transferred
Patrick Hall - two major knee injuries, who knows if he'll ever play at a high level again
I'll probably be jumped on for this, but Kiffin did a great job with the class last year. Yes, he had to take some lesser recruits to get the numbers we wanted... but we have retained a great percentage.
