Ever played 3x3 at the Y. There are no coaches, you just play ball.

Well, there aren't any uniforms either. I think they've really screwed this thing up.

Nah, it was honestly more enjoyable for me than the 5x5 as an Olympic sport. I think having coaches shouting from the sidelines would detract from the 3x3 experience.

What's the thinking behind the 3X3 games being played without the coaches present?

This keeps the attention (and cameras) entirely on the players, where it belongs. I like it.
