When will people (this is a criticism of both leftists and right wingers) get over this fixation with flags, anthems and sloganeering? If one side feels compelled to say "shut up and dribble" and the other side feels compelled to take a knee, seems to me that the pregame (emphasis on "game") ceremonies might take on far more importance than is necessary. Again... it is just a game. And... it is just a piece of cloth and a song. No need for humanity on both sides of this to get worked up over either.

And BTW, this includes my frustration on both sides about the Confederate flag nonsense.

I just don't understand why people allow themselves to get worked up over trivial issues like this when there are far more important issues out here. But I guess bread and circuses...

Is it a problem for you that it's being played at all or that you read an article referring to it as the "Black National Anthem?" The telecast only referred to it as "Lift Every Voice and Sing."
Well technically, it is the Black National Anthem... or let me back up. It is "recognized" as the Black National Anthem.

Meh. So it warms your heart to here the national anthem vs actually having the freedoms granted to us by The Constitution?

Which one is more important: symbolism or substance?
ummmmmmkayyyyy? Not sure how having the SSB played/sung is impinging on anyone's freedoms, but maybe I am missing something.
