USA Today......"Time to let him go"

Agree completely.

Who writes these contracts? Why don't they have provisions for this type of shite?
We kneel before people that play games for insane amounts of money.

That's why.

Unfortunately, now they don't even have to actually be good. Someone just has to make everyone believe they WILL be good someday.

Nico hasn't proven anything, and some dumb NIL group will write him a check.

Cut him loose. But disagree about this equating to an extension for JH. Nico was his hand picked guy. He chose poorly. I think he’s a great coach and I’m glad that we have him, but zero reason for him to benefit from this.
He chose the best QB for his style of play who happened to be the #2 QB in 2022. NIL greed isn’t attached to Heupel.

For all the frustration people are having with Nico and his wanting for more, this is what fans wanted for the players. Free education, room and board wasn’t enough. Players had to support their family and in some cases the entourage.

Can we not at least wait until we find out the details before we completely burn the bridge?
team nico already burned the freaking bridge.

I for one have moved on - nico was average at best in the SEC this past season - his performance did mot and does not warrant top NIL money.

Need to remember that Hooker was the backup to Milton.

He chose poorly. There are plenty of other QBs in the NIL era getting by without this drama. He sat in these people’s home and then turned over the keys to a 100 million dollar business to their son. Glad he’s our coach but the buck stops with him on this one.

Don't just let him announce on his own terms he's entering the portal. At the post game press conference today, Heupel should announce he's been dismissed from the team. Send the message now that even the highest paid 5 star won't have a spot if they pull this sort of thing and it will pay off over and over again to stop this going forward.

Your in-home conversation was 4 years ago, too much has changed since 2021. Which is why you’re seeing Tennessee not pursue Nico. Business decision is Tennessee is willing to let him walk and be ok with it.

Let Nico and any other "money first" guys go.
That would be a good portion of your team. Very few are here because Tennessee is their dream and those kids aren’t winning on a Saturday. Fans won’t support the Kiffin-Pruitt era again.

No…,we shouldn’t do that at all. The sentiment is vastly on our side. People are aggravated by what they see as an out of control system. You call out a 20 year old kid on TV and what parent would want their kid to come here? Let him hang himself and continue to look like the good guys.

I consider his skipping the final practice of the spring as bridge burning. I don't see anyway possible he can return without it being a total distraction the entire season and him being booed at home games.

That move was a massive miscalculation on his part.

Where are all the complete idiot defenders of nil. As most sane people understood from the jump, this has killed the sport. Just a slow death now
Self reflection for all those who said the players needed to be paid.

Some of Tennessee’s rivals want us to let Nico walk because of the impact on the field

All of college sports want us to let Nico walk because of the precedent it avoids

Unlimited transfers did the damage. Nil is about the kids getting paid for their work
Keep thinking that. That answer has been accepted by fans with no merit behind it. Kids were well compensated for their work on the field prior to NIL. The participation trophy generation is now in control.

What impact? Nobody is afraid of Nico and his in-game ability.

What impact ??? There have been plenty of teams, who bring out a freshman off the bench, who has more impact than he has shown

Agreed. Right now the narrative I have seen in the media has been on Tennessee's side in this. No reason to change that with getting in the mud. The media will do that for us.
