Would love to have a coach the caliber of Urban or even remotely close.

BUT, very seriously doubt he would want to come to here.

IF, UT could throw enough $ his way, who knows, worst he could do is say no..........

What's hilarious is that nobody would even be talking about Urban if he didn't talk very briefly about Tennessee on Fox Sports after the BYU game. He said that Tennessee was the toughest place he ever played (which kind of surprised me, to be honest), which of course means he wants to coach here.

To get urban UT would have to offer an obscene amount of money— take nick’s salary and add a few million and a boatload of benefits

I think he's done this time and won't ever coach again. I do think the less sexy pick established coach would be going after Les Miles. Fulmer has shown he will pony up to pay assistants so make Les go out and hire big names at the coordinator spots.

I do think that there are some health issues with Urban that made him walk away from a nice setup in Columbus.

Did you miss the minor detail that he would have been fired if he hadn't resigned because of all the flack the university was catching because of his assistant coach who had been abusing his wife? It's amazing to me that someone would choose to pretend that wasn't the sole reason he left that job.

He was not going to be fired from Ohio State.

That was never going to happen. Gene Smith was never in hot water with the handling of Urban's suspension. And since Gene Smith was never in hot water, Urban was never going to be fired unless he personally did something that warranted a firing WITH CAUSE....

I know for a fact that Urban was no where close to being run out and that boosters were totally onboard with him staying on long term even when suspended

If you think it would just take money to get Meyer here then lol. He would look at the roster, schedule and how idiotic a good portion of the fan base can be and high tail it as far as he could from Knoxville. I mean imagine if you will this scenario. Meyer comes here and gets us back into the top 10. Next thing you know, we get blown out by 30 at home by an unranked team that has no business being on the field with us. Fans would be calling for his head.

He is a winner, all the way back to his Bowling Green and Utah days. Saban bailed on Mich.State, LSU, and Miami Dolphins.

His Florida teams were full of such. 2 convicted murders multiple kicked out/convicted of theft. Far far worse than the Vols have dealt with or would be willing to deal with.

At least we have the Urban Meyer thread to look forward to. I'm hoping he owns a chalet in Gatlinburg, this place will go wild! I think his kids are too old to be enrolling into Knox Catholic, but maybe we can spot a grandchild over there???

Pruitt's record so far has nothing to do with the facts I stated. Pruitt is going nowhere b/c he's got a 9 million dollar buyout and we're still paying Butch, his staff, and Curry. We operated at a financial loss in 2018 because of the buyouts we were paying. Pruitt is not going anywhere.

Go ahead and pull up a thread on here from the last time we were ranked #10 in the nation and fans began clamoring for the coach to be fired after one loss. I'll wait.

USC Trojans and Pete Carroll say hi, just saying. USC was wondering if they were ever gonna rise from the abyss that was the 1990s. Barely a .500 NFL coach prior to USC.

Uh, minor difference: the years you refer to for Carroll pre-USC were a whopping four years, and the first four for him as a head coach at any level. Subsequent to that very small portion of his overall resume that you conveniently choose to focus on, he won a BCS national championship, two AP championships, and a Super Bowl, and played in a second Super Bowl. He had an 83.6% winning percentage at USC, and has a 62.5% percentage with the Seahawks.

Conversely, Fisher coached for twenty years in the NFL, and unlike Carroll, got progressively worse the more experience he gained. He won exactly nothing, and had a whopping total of six seasons out of twenty as an NFL HC in which his team finished above .500. The last six years he coached he had exactly zero seasons where the team even made it to .500.
