Urban Meyer

Why do we always think the next guy will be competing for championships from the get go.

This place would be ready to fire him as quickly as anybody else.

He's a slime ball. I would not like seeing him on our sidelines. But I would love to see the wins he would collect.

Regardless, it isn't happening, OP. UT will not let go of Pruitt and staff to hire a new HC and staff because of the cost involved.

Our best option right now, is to ride this coach for a little while. Hope and pray he can recruit. And hire Scott Satterfield (if he repeats his Appy St results at Louisville).
Cost, really. With a Stadium that hold over 100,000 people. That money could be made up so flipping fast. Concessions, tickets, apparrel, etc. Etc.etc. I think of Tennessee as a Gold mine . A top coach like Urban Meyer, $$$$$$$$$$$$ would be pouring in. Besides Fulmer could save his AD rearend.

1. Urban Meyer is the kind of football coach who can turn things around quickly.

Which has nothing to do with why he would go to Tennessee.

2. Tennessee has a Stadium that has one of the most passionate fan bases ever. Over 100,000 strong.

No one cares about the size of the stadium.

3. Would compete for playoff spot by year 2, if not his first year.

He could do that with USC.

4. Is a better coach than Mullin or Smart and would dominate the SEC East for years.

Why even bother with the SEC East when he can destroy the entire Pac-12 and be automatic for the playoffs?

5. Able to recruit anywhere from Coast to coast.

He can fall out of bed into 5-stars on his doorstep in Los Angeles.

All Tennessee has to do is poney up and make the offer.
Urban Meyer would say YES let's do this.

Not likely.

Ok, I'm a little bored. I'll play along.

How much money do you think it requires to oust CJP and staff while hiring UM and staff?

Notice my first sentence. We have common ground...but you’re on your own with the overall response. I’ve fought these battles until I’m blue in the face.

Good luck.
Gotcha, I see what you mean. College football is a business, time for us to treat it like one. You want to be the best you get the best.

1. What an extremely misleading thread title. I mean I knew what to expect when I clicked in, but still it's extremely poor form to start a thread with a leading title like that.

2. This is never going to happen in a million years. Pruitt is going nowhere any time soon and I doubt Urban has much interest in rebuilding a program, because this team isn't a 10+ win team in 2020 no matter if Nick Saban himself decided to come here tomorrow and take over.

3. I lol'd at the 100k fan point. I highly doubt how many fans a team has makes any sort factor into a coaches decision to accept a job.

Edit: looks like Mods smartly sent this thread somewhere else. Good move. Now let it die.

The administration needs to show me they are trying, for sure.

Point taken. But, I promise there is NO WAY I could stomach Urban walking the sidelines in Tennessee Orange.

If the zero percent chance did happen then I guess you would just buy some barf bags.
At the point we are at it is imperative our next coaching hire is someone with a PROVEN history of winning/turning programs back in the right direction.
I repeat, it must be someone with a PROVEN histroy of winning/ turnning programs around. After the inevitable departure of Pruitt , we have to do this if we have to start a f'ing go fund me page to make up any money Tennessee needs to make it appen.

Whatever man, it is what it is. Just let the Ga State losing to Western Michigan 57-10 sink in. Let's just keep hiring subpar coaches and guys like you think we'll win football games with them. GET REAL!

If Fulmer sent Peyton to test the waters and Meyer said yes I want the job, they would have a blank check ready

I totally agree with you, but the problem is that no coach fitting that description would come here. I don't think Urban, just an example, comes here no matter what the offer is. There are/will be better opportunities (USC) that will offer him the same amount of money.

Because of that, the other way out of this mess is to stumble onto a diamond in the rough, relative unknown coach, like Clemson did with Dabo. And I truly mean "stumble" into it because our admin does not have the skills or vision to identify one.

Pretty sure there are warehouses already stocked with signs that say, "FAHR __________________", ready to go

Urbs would take LESS money to go to USC, because of all the inherent advantages there. UT might as well offer him Confederate dollars, for all the good it would do.
