Good coach. Lots of baggage and a flake to boot. Wouldn't stay long. Too tough a job for him. He likes weak conferences that he can dominate with a SEC like roster. He'll go to USC and dominate the PAC 12 garbage conference next. He's predictable anymore. Besides he might have a real heart attack here, instead of fabricating one to justify skipping out of town.
The SEC and Big 10 are weak?

If you’re still in on Pruitt you’re an idiot. Idc if Meyer stays 4 years and had heart issues. Just win games and set us up like Ohio State.

Okay, then....I'm an idiot, and I admit it.

I think that THE WORST decision CJP has made is hiring JABBA for our OC.
I think the 2nd worst decision CJP has made is keeping JG as our starting QB.
I hope he gives Maurer and Shrout all of the 1st team reps over the next 2 weeks in prep for UGA--but seriously doubt that he will.

However, having said that---I'm not stupid.
I absolutely despise little Urbie Cryer---but there is no doubt his reputation and accomplishments would definitely generate HOPE and give us some recruiting legitimacy on the hill.
Plus, as much as I hate to admit it---he's probably the best game-day coach in college FB.

The Big 10 is. At least it was for most of his tenure in Columbus. The SEC was too much for him.

Yeah....it looked like it when his OSU team physically beat up Bama the last time they played.
And I HATE Ohio State more than Michigan fans--but the truth is the truth.

And are you forgetting the 2008 Florida--Bama SEC championship game??????

It didn't look like Bama was too much for him in those games.

There is no way UT can pay two former staffs and lay out the money it would take to land Meyer.
Not sure why it’s so difficult to understand this. If we fire Pruitt, we’ll be looking at people like Bill Clark as candidates.

And FTR, I don’t even think Clark would come here. He turned down Mississippi State. He’d turn us down too.

If you're calling people an idiot for not pre-judging at this point... you're an idiot. There are realities not related directly to whether Pruitt's performance rises to a level that termination should be considered.

He made a really bad call putting his money on JG. He hoped he could be "fixed" with good coaching... and apparently he can't be. The investment of time and effort they made did not pay off. Now he has to make decisions. If he makes good ones and the team looks credible by the end of the season then you don't give him a raise or extension but keep him another year. If he makes a bowl but doesn't get 9 wins in the 3rd year then again do not give him an extension or raise.

Pruitt has found some good young talent. He is much better than Jones at recognizing talent... even guys without all the stars. As long as he is building the roster, it is probably a good idea to let him.

There is no guarantee of success with Meyer. He was set up well with talent at each of his stops. UT would be a rebuilding job. Meyer has never shown the patience for that.... he is also questionable when it comes to talent evals of recruits. UF's overall talent got worse while he was there.

If my opinion meant anything, I’d have a dump truck full of cash dumped on his front lawn.

If he said no, I’d call in another dump truck full of cash and dump it on his lawn

Over and over until he said yes.

Our problem is waiting, and pussyfooting around. One of the 3 best coaches in America is sitting there now ripe for the picking. Strike now.

But naw, we’ll loaf around, say it’d be too expensive, how would it look to get rid of a coach after 2 years, we can’t get a good coach anyway..,,,,,,yada yada yada.

We’ll wait until Clay Helton goes 9-3 and USC has the stones to can him anyway, Meyer is at USC hoisting trophies, and we’re hoping Scott Satterfield won’t turn us down next go around.

The time to be aggressive is now. A top 3 coach will not be available next year, or the year after, when Pruitt is inevitably jettisoned back to Bama.

The biggest drawback for Meyer are annual games against Bama, Georgia and Florida. That’s a tough draw for anyone who takes the UT job.

Plus, he knows if he takes the UT job, that would be the kiss of death to his Florida Ring of Honor hopes.

Urban has always said that UT was his dream job.

You may be joking, not sure, but he’s literally NEVER said this. He did once say that about Notre Dame however.

If you’re not joking, you’ll have to find a good, reputable source that can support your claim. Since he’s “always said it,” surely someone out there chronicled it.

"Physically beat up"? It was a one score game.

And are you forgetting the 2008 Florida--Bama SEC championship game??????

The one where a bunch of Mike Shula's players took a lead into the 4th quarter? No, I haven't forgotten.

But it seems like you've forgotten what happened between Bama and Florida in 2009 and '10. The 2009 game is the one where Urban's heart issues began.

Hate to say it, but I have no faith Fulmer would ever even consider Meyer. Maybe it's an ego thing. Meyer destroyed Fulmer at FL. (Hope I'm wrong) but I feel like it'd need to be an Alabama thing, where the boosters pony up the money and TELL the AD- GO HIRE HIM.

Meyer lied in going from Utah to Florda, lied again about assistant coach abuse scandal OSU. He would be an even worse fit for our culture than Schiano, being a combination of sleazy yankee Schiano and UT-hating Spurrier. Coach Phil would never consider something this stupid; thank God.

To be honest, Urban's health issues disqualify him.... Apparently he deals with a mental disorder and it was only known when he did an interview about his health. The other red flags that pop up is the fact that his contract with OSU didn't have any clauses in it about "incapacities" to do the job.

I think he's done this time and won't ever coach again. I do think the less sexy pick established coach would be going after Les Miles. Fulmer has shown he will pony up to pay assistants so make Les go out and hire big names at the coordinator spots.

I do think that there are some health issues with Urban that made him walk away from a nice setup in Columbus.

His health could possibly be an issue, but the issue with the wife abuser coach didn't help matters either. The thing that I find funny is that when it looked like Florida was about to have some problems he stated he was having heart issues and then was at OSU what a year later?

So while he has a "history of health issues" I'd at the very least call him and see what his interest is.

I also agree that we could get Les Miles and I think he'd do good here, shoot he's got Kansas playing fairly well right now.

And it's that kind of thinking that keeps us where we are. Let's be honest some of the best coaches are sleezy, Calipari, Saban, Meyer, Carroll. You gotta be just a little sleezy to get ahead in this sport. We continue to settle for "good guys" which has only worked out for us with Barnes. The last time we had a "sleezy" coach was Pearl and he took the basketball program to heights it had never seen.

So while yes Meyer might be "sleezy" it's becoming apparent that you need to be a little bit to win.

The florida heart attack after losing the SEC Title was suspect.

But doing an interview about mental disorders is not something I think he would make up. The wife of the assistant coach thing was a big deal, but Urban didn't really suffer from it nor was he likely to suffer from it. OSU was willing to stick with him.

I just don't think you take a flyer on any coach with potential mental disorders.
