What a maroon. Pretty sure the Cuse is bringing back like 7 starters total (offense and defense). I know who they aren’t bringing back, McCord (QB). Seems he’s looking at our potential issues with no thought as to those of Syracuse. Not surprising that we're on someone upset watch list. Questions will be answered. Let's prove ole Spencer wrong.

Publication Picks Syracuse to Upset Tennessee Football in Season Opener | Rocky Top Insider
This publication predicted Syracuse will beat Tennessee football in the season-opener in Atlanta this year.www.rockytopinsider.com
According to Saturday Down South writer Spenser Davis, that may be the case. In his article that predicts five upsets for the opening weekend of college football, he listed the Orange beating the Vols as one of the bets.
His reasoning is the questions involving Tennessee’s offense. With no clear quarterback, a retooled offensive line and an unproven receiver room, Davis doesn’t like how big of a favorite the Vols are in the game.
“Quarterback is a massive question, as is offensive line. The receiver room is unproven (and is dealing with multiple injuries during fall camp) as well,”
Will the offense be any better with Joey Aguilar or Jake Merklinger under center? Possibly, but in Week 1, I don’t expect the Vols to be firing on all cylinders.”
I know people have their concerns about the offense, but I’m giving Heupel the benefit of the doubt at this point. He’s earned that. We’re gonna be fine at running back because we’re always fine at running back. As long as the quarterback takes care of the ball, which every QB has done here since CJH took over, we’ll be fine. It’s funny how people on here always are so quick to point out our flaws w/o ever mentioning anyone else’s.I know our offense has questions but their defense was bottom half of their conference and way down there nationally as well. They just didn't defend the pass OR the run very well at all. I read that they return the same D-line but they've got some transfers/backups on the backend for this year. I guess maybe their transfers could be difference makers? They also don't recruit anywhere near the top 25 that I know of. If we struggle to win this game, I'll be pretty concerned.
Syracuse gave up 41 to UNLV and Pitt, gave up 37 to BC. They aren't keeping UT out of the endzone. UT will control both lines of scrimmage. The only way they don't cover the spread is if they go Oklahoma game and pound the ball with the ground game. Even than I can see a RB ripping off big runs for TDs.He has logic on his side. And I do expect Syracuse's head coach will be coaching in the SEC within 4 years. This game will not be a cake walk.
It's not just that we have no established QB, but it's that none of our QBs are getting to throw to our projected starting receivers. That's a huge impediment to progress! Add to that an inexperienced center... facing schemes that Syracuse's DC has had months to plan and implement... and what may be an especially young offensive line...
If Syracuse's defense doesn't load the box from the get-go, with lots of shifts and stunts to further slow our offense, I'll be shocked. This could be the slowest (in plays-per-minute) we'll play all season.
Not surprising that we're on someone upset watch list. Questions will be answered. Let's prove ole Spencer wrong.

Those are very real concerns. Anytime you start a new QB you have to rely on your defense to control the game. I'm hoping that our defense can shut them down. The real question is how long will it take the offense to jell. If it takes more than 2 weeks, then we might be in trouble. Not surprising that we're on someone upset watch list. Questions will be answered. Let's prove ole Spencer wrong.

lol. This ain’t last year and we are a vastly superior team. We should crush them.We better come ready to play the Cuse aren’t UT Chattanooga or Kent St. I think we will win but i expect this game to be a rock fight. They have alot of questions on their team as we do and it’s the first game of the year so expect the unexpected but i think we win by 9.
I think whole all the focus is on Offense, our D will keep us in a TON of games this year.We better come ready to play the Cuse aren’t UT Chattanooga or Kent St. I think we will win but i expect this game to be a rock fight. Sampson was very good. But, I think people will soon realize he was just the most experienced and best of the bunch last year. I think the stable of RBs are going to be so good that the O isn't going to miss a beat in the run game as long as the OL performs at a level of at least 90% of what they did last year. Will we be able to run the ball? breaking in a new oline , new QB and Sampson is gone.
