Not surprising that we're on someone upset watch list. Questions will be answered. Let's prove ole Spencer wrong.

According to Saturday Down South writer Spenser Davis, that may be the case. In his article that predicts five upsets for the opening weekend of college football, he listed the Orange beating the Vols as one of the bets.

His reasoning is the questions involving Tennessee’s offense. With no clear quarterback, a retooled offensive line and an unproven receiver room, Davis doesn’t like how big of a favorite the Vols are in the game.

“Quarterback is a massive question, as is offensive line. The receiver room is unproven (and is dealing with multiple injuries during fall camp) as well,”

Will the offense be any better with Joey Aguilar or Jake Merklinger under center? Possibly, but in Week 1, I don’t expect the Vols to be firing on all cylinders.”

Syracuse has to replace their quarterback from last season too, right? Their defense was also Swiss cheese last year with many wins coming in shootouts. I expect them to be a good test for an opener but there is absolutely no reason UT shouldn’t win this game by double digits. Also, there is no comparison roster wise between the two teams, especially when you look at the caliber of athletes UT has been stacking compared to Cuse. Upset picks like this are made to get clicks.

Yep they got O issues too. New QB in Angeli, their T3 WRs are gone, their SO RB (36 carries) probably starts. We win but I hate 14.5 spreads

Lazy reporting. There really needs to be more calling out of these ridiculous predictions. Everybody knows that anything can happen in college football but something like this needs to be made fun of when the game is over.

Very good statement! If we vol fans react with our brains and not our hearts, most will agree with him. There are many things for the team to prove.

We better come ready to play the Cuse aren’t UT Chattanooga or Kent St. I think we will win but i expect this game to be a rock fight. They have alot of questions on their team as we do and it’s the first game of the year so expect the unexpected but i think we win by 9.
I think we win easy. I predict our run game dominates. Near 300 years rushing.

It’s not a stretch. Both sides are unproven on the offensive side and nobody truly knows what we’re going to get. We could blow them out, lose a nail biter or even get blown out due to turnovers.

Replacing Cooper Mays concerns me the most.

This is the key item. The SEC (and B1G) are building rosters that are leaps and bounds ahead of most of the other programs. Only Clemson, FSU, Miami, and Notre Dame can keep up with the Power 2.

They also picked Kennesaw State in an upset. Last year was KSU's 1st year in FBS and they were as bad as Kent St., ranked in the bottom 3 all year. Now they are beating an ACC team?

Will we be able to run the ball? breaking in a new oline , new QB and Sampson is gone.
why does everyone only mention what UT lost when two teams are playing in the game?

SU lost more than we did and why would i be worried ab this OL if the staff likes them more than the 2024 OL? i mean those guys see them everyday.

We've been able to run the ball under this staff since they got here regardless of the personnel. 2021 was worse off than this year by a decent amount and we ran the ball very well that season from what I recall.

Most of media types are no better pickers than we are, those making book are in a different class of evaluators. Smart still on the Vols and should be

We aren't being coached by the any of the 3 stooges anymore. Since Heupel took over, we have been outright upset maybe 2 times- in his second game against Pitt when we were a mess and last year against Arkansas who was still a bowl qualifying SEC team.

I'm not worried about Syracuse.
