I was impressed with Jonathon Crompton and Eric Berry with the fact that they were there to talk and pump up the recruits who came for junior day. I do not believe either player will play with any of these recruits but were ready to help when needed-this says a lot about how they support the program. Were there any others mentioned?? I believe I read where 15-20 players spoke, helped out but these were the only 2 names I recall.

yeah its really good to hear. despite how badly crompton played and how much $hit he got for it, the kid really does have good spirit and a really good attitude. good kids.

I will say that for as bad a QB Crompton is, He is all VOL...He loves UT and for that I can appreciate him...Just wish he wouldn't throw it in the dirt so damn much.

Yea, that kind of makes me hope this staff can help Crompton put it all together and have one hell of a senior season.

Look what happened with John Parker Wilson. He was awful looking early but turned it around with a new staff and some more experience. He wasnt going to do enough to win the game but he wouldnt screw it up like years past. I think Crompton has more of a skill set then JPW did and a lot more natural talent. Should be interesting. I think if they let Crompton air it out deep he will do fine. Its the short stuff that scares me.

What happened to his last two games?

Idk about Crompton, I mean you can coach mechanics but you can't really coach true accuracy. It's just a natural gift that some people are born with. That being said, maybe there was just something going on in Jonathan's head last year that we didn't know about. I'm pulling for him to have a breakout senior season as well. Go Vols!

Good mechanics = good accuracy, for one. It would also help if his receivers could get off the line of scrimmage and get open.

JPW broke some Bama passing records the year before Saban got there. It's not like he turned crap into gold. (too tired to think of an analogy) It isn't an entirely unfair comparison though because Major Applewhite was a lousy OC and just did awful under Saban. A lot of JPW's struggles are attached to that ordeal. Then McElwain comes in and coaches him up. It wouldn't totally shock me if something similar happens here.

Most QBs want more than a half-second to set up before having to deal with four DL in their face. Crompton probably shares this view.
