Upon Returning From The Monumental FAU v. UL-Monroe Tilt...

Had a chance to see some Patterson and Mayo highlights on local TV. Mayo is unbelievable, Patterson is pretty darn good. Huntington played Lex Catholic today. They walked over LC, but will face a stiffer test later this month against Scott County. I think I will make my way over to Memorial for that contest.
Mayo is the truth. Patterson is a horse, too. I wish there was some way Bruce could get back in on him.

When the announcers were throwing out comparable players, Lofton's name was mentioned. Of course when the comparison was made the announcers said to imagine someone who can shoot like Lofton, and take you off of the dribble as well.

I can't see any college jobs coming open that would interest him. The NBA would be a possibilty, but I don't really think he'd be interested in completely changing his style of play to accomodate coaching in the League. I think Bruce will be here for a good long time, provided that he gets the support from the fans and administration that he deserves.

i could see a college A.D. throw a lot of money at him to try and lure him away

I agree.Surely they will be able to keep him happy over at UT.

OJ's a good shooter. He's not a Chris Lofton level shooter. I actually think his vision and passing ability are his greatest attributes.

UT can pretty much match anything someone throws at Bruce. I just don't see any jobs coming open that would be of real interest to him. I do add this caveat, Michigan would be insane not to call him if they come to their senses and fire Tommy Ammaker.

That is what he will make his money doing in the NBA. I will have to check the stats, but I think he put up 38 today.

If UT could nab Patterson, a final four run would almost certainly follow.

A guy with his size and ballhandling ability is completely impossible to guard at the high school level. The kids from Lex Cath will be able to tell their grandkids they played against OJ Mayo.

Incidentally my nieghbor still has a picture from the front page of the Herald Leader showing Alan Houston dunking over him. Maybe the proudest moment of his life.

To paraphrase Carl Spackler, "At least he's got that going for him."

I'll throw this out there as well. How long has it been since UT men's basketball team has had this much exposure on national television?Probably back in the Ernie and Bernie days.

This is the most televion exposure we've ever gotten. That is, in part, due to the fact that so many more games are on television now.

I'm going to see Duke-Miami tomorrow. I'm interested to see exactly what's wrong with the Blue Devils. It's my impression that they're just not that good.

Perfect ending to a great day of college basketball. Nevada holds off Hawaii in an overtime thriller. God, I love ESPN Fullcourt.

I would die inside if Pearl left for Michigan.

In closing, let me say this post is in now way intended as a defense of Alford and Doherty. They are both mediocre to bad coaches.

Hey Doherty recruited me when I was in HS. That's got to be worth something, right?

I think Bruce will be here for a good long time, provided that he gets the support from the fans and administration that he deserves.

After last year's raise and extension, which took him to $1.1 million through 2012, I'd say that the school has shown so far that they are willing to do what it takes to keep him. In only two years, the guy has certainly made UT basketball worth talking about again.

They walked over LC, but will face a stiffer test later this month against Scott County. I think I will make my way over to Memorial for that contest.

Tell Billy Hicks I said hello.

thats who I had in mind, Michigan. But I agree UT can match anything they put up.

I can't honestly see what would be so intriguing about Michigan that Pearl would leave Knoxville for, and start over everything he had accomplished in 2 years.

The ability to recruit Detroit and Flint. He would also have access to Chicago, Cleveland and every other major city in Big Ten country.

Yes, but do you really think it is worth leaving a fan base that loves him for a place where michigan football fans root for the spartans in basketball and having high expectations?

Before this season, I felt like it was a real possibility. However, the turnout at these games while students have been GONE has been great!

Pearl, with 3 freshmen getting serious minutes, is taking this team to the tournament again (most likely). I bet this team is better in March than it is now, and we're pretty good right now.

I think UT will have to pony up a lot of money, obviously, but I really think CBP loves it here.

Does anyone know how his wife likes it here?
