Saban's been a bust so far, especially after losing to a mediocre fsu and miss state team. He better pick it up next season---the honeymoon's over.

So on one hand you believe UT winning the SECE deserves no credit since it's watereddown. Yet on the other hand you recognize that 4 of 6 teams are ranked which is easily explained to parity.

Looks to me like the SECE is being recognized as the best conference division from top to bottom.

As for losing to UF and UAT - they will enjoy watching our game December 1st from the comfort of their homes.

you are assuming that we win out, which remains to be seen. After watching the games this year, do you really think the SECE is all that? I just dont see how you can say that. You seem to put alot of faith in the rankings, which had SoCar 6th, USF #2, and started off the year w/ USC at #1. I dont think the rankings truely define which teams are the best all the time. I think that the SEC is living off of our rep a little bit right now.

The problem with the polls is they have preseason polls which are mostly subjective, and teams like USC get #1 and then have to lose before they are ranked realistically. There shouldn't be preseason polls, that's one reason the BCS doesn't start untill after about the 5th week.

Polls are nothing more than peoples opinions. As broyles pointed out, preseason polls are a complete joke.

At this point in the season everyone has a pretty good handle on the quality of teams. So you can palce a little more validity in the rankings - just a little though.

I think the SEC is pretty good this season. You got it right when you said parity explains having 67% of SECE teams ranked. But it's because the bottom is rising, not the top falling.

then tell me of another year with such pathetic defenses across the board. not one SECe team can stop the others with any consistency. I don't ever recall that in the SECe.

Good offensive performances have a way of making some people think the defense is bad. And vice versa.

OK, since you couldn't talk about the Ds and gave credit to the Os, tell me which ones of those are worth a flip? I'm talking about offenses with standout football players who can flat out beat people. FL probably fits that bill. Any others?

UT, KY, UGA, and USC all have players that fit the bill on the offensive side from the east.

As for the D's, I'd say UT had great efforts against UGA (Moreno) and UAF (MacFadden/Jones) in wins. But conversely, standout players (Jackson, Harvin, and Hall) made huge impacts in loses.

well lets just say safeer.. He still has to win the next 2 games for his job to be safe. If he loses to vandy for the 2nd time in 3 years he needs to be shown the door right after that game.

Coach Fulmer's job is safe and will stay safe... whether he wins the east or not. Which in my opinion the Vols will win the East. Title Game(Coin Toss) A coach like Fulmer will go out on his own terms. He is Tennessee Football. It has sucked seeing the Vols go up and down over the past 5 years but I believe in Fulmer and with that young defense coming around the Vols will be ok. Tennessee is easily a top 10 program. Who could they get to replace Coach Fulmer. Tennessee is too traditional so it will remain an in house hire in my opinion...so what would be the benefit of removing Fulmer???

I just don't see the dominant football players that we're accustomed to. The best RBs in the conference both play at Arky and are severely hampered by their lack of QB and passing game. UF has some NFL type impact players and they absolutely killed our squad. Other than that, I just don't see any offensive players that merit much attention. SC has none that I can see. UGA has an atrocious line, Stafford is a work in progress, their receivers drop more balls than the '05 Vols and Moreno might be a stud, but needs help. Vandy is Vandy. KY is has some good football players on offense. UF has some horses on offense.

On defense, I just don't see them. Who are these defensive players you're talking about? Where do they play? Are they a couple of years away?

Jake, dont drink the Kool-Aid. Just because we're in a position to win a watered down east does not diminsh the fact that our 2 greatest rivals beat the absolute crap out of us. Winning is the cure-all and I agree with that, but getting rocked by the gators and the tide is not so easily glossed over by me.[/quote]

That sounds like your saying an SEC title would not be a good enough achievement to forgive 2 losses from earlier in the season. Would it be different if the 2 losses weren't to 2 big rivals?

I don't care if it's watered down, stale, or whatever. It'll still taste pretty dang good IF this team could pull off 3 more consecutive victories and bring a SEC title back to K-ville

the SEC is down overall this year I still say you put any one of the top ten teams nationally in the SEC and they wouldnt fair that well so a division championship and chance for a SEC crown is not all bad

winning the SECC would be more than enough to make up for getting waxed by UF & UAT. winning the east and getting blown out by LSU will not be.

Kansas vs Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl? Why wouldn't they just switch either one of these teams for an opponent in the Orange Bowl? Say, like, Va Tech vs Kansas in the Orange and WVA vs Oklahoma in the Fiesta? That way, their wouldn't be an "automatic" Big 12 winner in a big BCS game. Any thoughts?

(This is just the scenario, btw, of the projections)

Or replace the opponent opposite the SEC from the Sugar Bowl would be even better.

where are we headed if we lose to KY or get blown out by LSU?

God, I love your daily optimisim.

If Tennessee loses before the SEC CG, I would venture to guess Music City, unless the SEC only gets one BCS team, then we would slip to the Independance.

If Tennessee loses the SECCG, by any margin, then they will got to Outback or Chik-Fil-A at worst.
