lets say ut is at the 10 yard line with 90 yards to go. dobbs fades back and throws a pass to Malone who catches it at the 20 yard line and he runs it in for a touch down. now my question why does dobbs get credit for the 80 yards that Malone ran and both get credit for a touchdown. my adding up means theres been170 yards made on one play and 2 touch downs.

90 pass yards, 90 receiving yards, 90 total yards. The offensive yards will either be passing or rushing. If passing, obviously someone has to receive them.

That's because he doesn't get credit for RB runs. For example, had Dobbs handed the ball off to Kamara instead and he scampers for 80 yards and scores a touchdown, he doesn't get credit for that. It all works out in the end.
