NCAA clearinghouse, it's been the issue with him for over a year, has never been cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse.

Edit: just saw what you were referring to...
During a Big Orange Tipoff Club speech on June 23, Tyndall told an audience that Mostella “may have to answer one or two questions in regards to amateurism, but we expect him to be cleared.” Tyndall later declined to elaborate on the amateurism comment.

Not good news IMO, add in Reese and McKnight news and that's a pretty crappy series of events.

Any chance the SEC doesn't approve the McKnight transfer, due to his previous trouble? That one would hurt more than Mostella this yr. IMO

Regarding Reese. Wonder if the weight training might have caused the injury or if it occurred in a game or elsewhere? Sure hope he recovers in time to rejoin the practice schedule!

Clearing his problem up with online courses is a little sketchy. Hope it works out!

What would likely cause questions about amateur status for a player like him? An agent getting involved or something?

Agree 100%, even if he gets cleared he's missing valuable time right now

I'm still learning all this transfer and prep school stuff, if mostella can workout with ut an stuff then why not mckinght ? Clearinghouse? And If so mostella hasn't been cleared either so why?

NCAA must approve McKnights transfer because UT would be his third four-year institution. SEC must approve all incoming grad transfers. CDT states that he expects update on his status Monday. IMO he will probably enroll in the fall. The 2nd summer session starts Thursday.

From my understanding SEC & UT have cleared Mostella, that's why he's in school and working out. They haven't cleared McKnight, which is why he's not here.

Do you have any idea what amateur problem might be about?

Grades. Its always been grades. Thats the main reason most people arent getting too worked up over his commitment, myself included. Ill get excited when he's cleared, until then I'm not getting my hopes up.

Why would grade problems be called amateurism issues? Surely that would be called academic issues or something.

Grade issues and amateurism issues are not related in the slightest. His grades are fine (he wouldn't have been admitted to UT if they weren't). He has either had a test grade 'red-flagged' or his transcripts are being reviewed to determine the legitimacy of a certain course(s) he took in high school.

The amateurism concerns are new, and could range from accepting money for play, appearances, to accepting a free meal on a recruiting trip. Will likely have to repay the cost of whatever extra benefit he received to charity, and his amateur status will be restored.

I think he gets cleared in the end, but the amateur thing could end up being a bit more tricky. The prep schools circuits are kind of like traveling money makers except the kids playing can't make any money while traveling all over the country playing in games. Very much like an NBA type of schedule they keep. I can see how some of the kids would be tempted to take money/meals/flights etc.....

Saying this though, we haven't heard that this is the case here so I am just purely speculating on this.
