If KS will make the defense better than other available coaches, you still hire KS. You don't make long term decisions based on a coordinators 'equity with recruits' in the short term, that would just be a poor managerial decision.
In the long term, the most important thing is getting in the right people who will build the program the right way. If that means you lose a few 18 year old recruits, that is just an unfortunate reality.
But Dooley doesn't have a long term. This staff HAS to win next year. That is a fact. If you blow up this recruiting class a month before signing day, Dooley won't survive. Remember who hired Dooley...
