Update on Randy Shannon, DC

It is right to be skeptical of everything you read on VN. However, DocVol seems to be a reputable poster.

Still, being skeptical is warranted.

But stupid tired ass posts like the one you quoted are not IMO. Waste of bandwidth.

I think Steele and Shannon should both come. Hell, Bring in chavis too. Chavis HC, Shannon dc, Steele LBC, and Dooley can be the water boy. Go ahead and hire Peyton as the OC. we can afford that right? I'll chip in 5k a year

Seriously though, if Spangler thing starts seeming real, like really real, I'm gonna get some mattresses together and sell them on campus. Free bic with every purchase. At least somebody will profit right?

That's a good one

If Dooley is fired and Shannon is the DC, Shannon would no doubt at least be named interim coach. Dooley has to see this too and is probably a little leery of hiring his replacement.

I seriously doubt Dooley is looking at it that way. He needs to hire someone who can come in and help this team win football games from day 1. I think Shannon can be that guy. Dooley is not going anywhere and I for one am happy to have him as our coach. The quicker the fan base realizes that and starts supporting him the better it will be for our program.

Wow. IDK if you're as connected as you say, but if that's true I'm impressed all around. JW and PS always seemed like class acts, so it would be nice if they acted as you described. It's also encouraging that Dooley and Hart were prepared for JW's departure and prepared to open the check book.

I don't know why people are down on Justin Wilcox, I thought he did a great job considering what he had. They were almost starting from scratch. I also believe what Dooley said about them having built a solid foundation for the football program. I guess we'll see this coming year.:good!:

I haven't seen one rumor, one report, or an insider ever mention Spangler. The only time I have seen his name mention is from someone saying the same thing that the above person has posted. I just can't see Hart sitting in his office with CDD saying, "let's go after a huge hire. How about that guy at LA. Tech." I think we got a whole lot better AD than that.

They're down on him because he left, nothing more and nothing less. He was still a good DC while he was here.

Partly because he left. Partly because of unsubstantiated rumors that he said bad things before leaving.

The guy did a very good job. He didn't walk on water. He is not irreplaceable. He left for a) home and b) more than likely a better opportunity to get a HC job he wants. IMHO, he won't be at UW more than two years either before getting a HC gig.

He was ok. Not great, not awful. He wasn't a very active recruiter nor did he seem to want to be here. Ultimately I think we can do a lot better.

Or refreshing seeing how an AD SHOULD approach his job? He's also giving Dooley the tools he needs to succeed.

Yep, that's great support. I don't care who they brought in (Dooley) or someone else it was a disaster they were taking over. You can blame Kiffin for a few missteps but he did bring in some good talent, albeit the character issues. People should also remember it was Phil Fulmer who brought this program down by sitting on his laurels. You know, Phil, the noone wants to give me a coaching job because they know I neglected the great job at UT I had.
