Update on Janzen Jackson

I have spoken with a friend in the KPD. He says they are still sorting out who knew what but that JJ was sitting in the backseat and apparently didn't know what Nuke and Edwards was upto until they did it. He did get out and tell them to get back in the car and basically it appears that he stopped the robbery atempt or that is where they are lending to believe.
Should JJ be suspended, Yes, he should not have put himself in that position to start with by being out that time of the morning. Should he be kicked off the team? That is the Coach's job to determine.

He should be suspended for attempting to prevent two boneheads from committing a felony?

No, he should be suspended for violating curfew, which I think is safe to assume he was under after the last incident what two weeks ago. He might be completely innocent in the robbery attempt, however, he has to learn that you are responsible for your actions and putting yourself in that situation by being out past curfew at 2 in the morning on a school night when you know you have a curfew is plenty grounds for suspension.

For all of you demanding the ouster of these players just hold up a minute and get off of your high horse! You people realize that no one has been convicted of anything don't you or do you just believe everything that comes out of the KPD? Let justice run it's course and then let the cards fall where they may.

You also have to keep in mind these are 18 and 19 year old kids, aside from the alledged crime the only thing we know for sure is that they broke curfew but is that a a reason to send them packing?

What does JJ's angel look like and if you know the location of the facts, please tell us?

Dude, save it!

I agree with alot of what people are saying. If you were to be hanging out with some friends who weren't exactly the best behaved but were still friends with them and they did something like that I would be extremely angry.....that is if he actually didnt know they were going to do it....point is don't be so quick to judge before details are given.

I'm an LSU fan and a Tennessee fan.Live in La. hope to retire in beautiful Tenn. Been to many games in Kville even when Tigers weren't playing. Wasn't happy JJ didn't pick LSU but was glad he at least beacame a Vol. That being said LSU had a player that was great but decided rules and regulations didn't matter. It became a cancer when he was given chance after chance. One player doesn't make a team but can certainly disrupt one. Ryan P. left and left LSU in Disarae. Ihope CLK, whom I think will bring Tenn. back to national prominence, thinks about long term effects of possibly having different rules for different players. Good luck Vols.

In years past, football players were required to stay in Gibbs Hall until their Senior year. My understanding is that this rule changed in recent years from Slive's Office. Maybe these young men would have been better suited to have been better supervised in a control dorm setting.

The NCAA did away with athletic dorms in the late 90's they considered them extras. So now the players (depending on school policy) either live in the regular dorms or they get a stipend for an apartment and food which can be close to $1,000 per month.

The athlectic dorms kept alot of players out of trouble because of curfews and bed checks during the week.

I am a firm believer in the 'innocent until proven guilty' process, but correct me if I a wrong. JJ just 'happened' to be in the same store at 1:30 AM (past curfew) as two other football players and saw them in the middle of a botched hold-up and merely said something like, "get in the car guys, its time to go". Why would he be getting into the car if he did not arrive with them at the store? Secondly, they decided to do a hold-up while he was in the store and he knew nothing about it? They already had two 'hoodies' and a gun, were riding around in a car with someone who had weed, and JJ did not know about it? Give me a break...

If we let justice runs its course we'll be hearing something oh in about a year and half. At some point CLK an MH have to have enough information to make an informed decision on the fate of these young men. When that is I don't know? However, boards are for speculating and opining not a court of law. Fans are going to be divided on CLKs decision, but in the end it is his responsibility as he holds his own rope. So, I will defer to him, but I can still have an opinion whether or not it is based on facts is irrelevant.:)

he is demetrice morley caliber in talent and in the brain.

Not sure I'd agree with that. I've already been more impressed with Jackson than I ever was with Morley. Perhaps the coaching each has received has made the difference, but Morley had the chance to get the same coaching for at least one season and he blew it... again.

If I'm riding around with friends and I go in the the restroom to leave a dump, how can I be responsible for what my friends are doing outside? just saying

Let's allow the facts and the decisions to be made and support the decisions of the people in control of this matter. But most of all, support the players that messed up too. They made a terrible decision and it will follow them for a long time. For those of you that's never screwed up, it's only because you've not lived long enough.

I don't think this matters one bit if we keep Jackson or boot him. He is an 18 old and his name is being dragged in the mud right now and all the people that did love him will expect him to change their opinions and that will take awhile. I think the kid transfers anyway so with that being said kiffin needs to kick him off the team and just go get a stud saftey to fill his shoes. Prentis Wagner was the top guy all preseason so it is not like we are hurting in that position. For all of u that dissagree. What would u say if the charges are dropped then new ones are brought up on being an accomplis? I bet if they drug test him he fails anyway. Kick him off kiffin and make a statement. Nothing would be worse than u allowing him to stay and he gets a 3rd strike or him just transferring. IMHO

I don't get where all of this past curfew stuff comes from and why were they up at 1:30? Either y'all didn't go to college, play sports, or have seen 'Remember the Titans' and think that that movie is current day sports. Most college students (athletes or not) regularly stay up past midnight. Most teams do not have a curfew expect for the night before or two nights before the game.

JJ has done some things prior to this that will weight into the decision, but his equipment was on the trailor with the other players equipment to Oxford. Take that for what it is worth. I think Nuke and Edwards must go.

The players had a great meeting last night and I think that they will play well tomorrow. JMO

I think it just goes to show that in today's society a high profile athlete will always get the benefit of the doubt.

Janzen, if lucky and stays with this program, he will have no more chances. He has to be clean from here on out and his dad needs to whoop his little disrespectful a@#. Monte needs to seriously talk to JJ and let him know what is what, the NFL is not goin to tolerate lame behavior such as what JJ has so far displayed on numerous occasions.

I didn't read this whole thread so I don't know if you are responding to a particular post or just speaking in general. I don't see you quoting anyone so I will assume the latter.

I don't recall hearing anything about JJ just being at the store on his own and running into them. My understanding is that he was with them and went into the store to buy something or whatever then on his way out he saw them at the other car.

Sounds like Johnny Cochran! "If the glove don't fit..."

:) After having a day to cool off a little I've moderated my hardline feelings.... a little. If it turns out that JJ was actually in the store dropping the kids off at the pool & not really a participant then maybe he should get one more "last chance". IF he can explain why he was in a car with someone holding dope, and IF he can explain why he'd be out at 2 a.m. ostensibly past curfew. I haven't heard from anyone in actual authority if there even IS a curfew, but I can't imagine there wouldn't be one. If not Kiffin needs to institute one pronto.
