I think that Stoops is still a possibility, and I also believe we would pony up the cash. There has surely been contact. I was surprised to hear that he was even considering it, really. I didn't put it outside the realm of possibility, but coaches don't walk away from gigs like his every day.

General Neyland with Bear Bryant as the defensive coordinator. They are still trying to dig up someone to run the offense.

I really dont think any "big time" head coach will be leaving his program this close to NSD. Most have too much class

Maybe Stoops wants to join Saban and Meyer in the SEC? I doubt it, but that would seem like some sort of motive. Also, maybe he's tired of Oklahoma. It's the longest of shots and my bet is still on cut

I heard the same thing, exact same number via someone on the hiring committee. I posted it in the other thread about the coach not being someone we expected. Didn't want to start another thread because I honestly wasn't sure if it was legit or not, but maybe so...TIFWIW, which, like I said before, may not amount to much.

How can Stoops be in play for us? You don't go to guys like Calhoun and Cutcliffe unless Stoops already threw you out of his state.
