When a kid makes his college selection, they sit in front of a couple of hats. When they choose the school they pick a hat up and put it on thier head. What is on the hat? The school. NOT the coach. A kid committs to a school, not a coach. They say, "I committed to play at (insert school here). Not, "I'm committed to play for Coach (name here)."
If you look up on rivals, profiles read Tennessee commit. They don't read "Dooley commit".
Am I making sense?
So it will hurt recruiting because we actually expect you to honor your commitment?
And if you think that just because the kid's hat has the team name on it means he is only going to that school because of said school...yikes
If a kid won't come to UT (or any school) because he's worried that he won't get released in the event he changes his mind....then he shouldn't be here anyway. If t's about the coach, then we should be in pretty good shape because CDD has made it clear that this isn't a layover on his way to another destination.
