Unofficial TN v next SEC opponent pre-game

Okay, how about a blemish? Losing to LSU will leave a pimple on the season.

How do? Just about every team suffers at least one bad loss, Tennessee has yet to do that...drop that one and still go 22-8 with no other bad losses and I’m not sure there’s anyone saying that LSU loss derailed our season.

Yes. "Pimple" is pretty harsh. Please forgive my obtuse rhetoric.

It will be a very challenging night for Kesling once Ole Miss subs beyond their 6th man.

Lane Below has potential for the All-Name Team.

Close games always excited me more.... Maybe I am confusing Excitement with Gut Wrenching Stress!?

Anyway, I hope the Vols "bore" me with a Blowout tomorrow!

Go Vols!

I feel like from a game plan perspective, we don't really have to change much from LSU, which should help us. Now, turning around and playing UK on a Tuesday will be a little more difficult, so would be nice to get a big lead and let our starters get some rest.

Agreed and I think this is a game they can possibly do that.

I actually haven't really watched Alabama at all, so I don't really know much to expect. Also, from a stat perspective they're a weird team on paper... so can't really draw much from it.

However, I will say that I'm glad we get a little extra rest so our gaurds can be a little more fresh than they were against UK. The guard play was good, but defensively they looked tired at times. Colin Sexton seems to be a ballhog and not that effective from the floor... 42% on 2s and 27% on 3s in SEC play. But he gets to the line a lot. Same w Ingram. Will be a test to guard them w/o fouling.

However their offense mostly stinks. They're better defensively. But I don't really know the best way to attack it. Any thoughts from anyone who has watched them?

From my limited viewing they seem to really struggle in the halfcourt, they’ve had some awful games where they struggle to break 50. However if you let them get out and run that’s where Sexton and their other guys really get going and are tough to stop.

It's a long shot, but if TN can win out the next 3 (@Miss, @Miss State, GA) it will be single digit losses for the first time since Bruce's 5th year. Bruce did it every other year. Jerry did it his first three years. Devoe did it once. Wade, KO, Buzz, Cuonzo, and Donnie never did it.

Better yet. Win the rest and the SECT and the BB team won't have more loses than Butch's Team 121 Disaster.

Yes. I jinxed them.

I think that Barnes getting to scout Matlock in that one game will be a big advantage for TN. I'm glad that TN didn't have to play Mississippi in their first game minus Kennedy.

I don't think it's a long shot to win all 3

I still think we match up very well against Ole Miss. Even if they are playing with a little spark, we should still win.

I think if we get a little more production from Alexander to help Grant on the inside, we have a good chance of closing 3 - 0. Got to get better rebounding or it will b 1- 2 , Alexander needs to get us at least 7 a game.

Barnes said they will check the status of Derrick Walker today and see how much he does at practice. Kyle Alexander was wearing a boot, but Barnes said they just do that sometimes.

They asked him if he's ever been in a situation where he had to play a conference tournament on Sunday and then be somewhere on Thursday for NCAA tournament. He said that was a big disadvantage, especially if you played late and then play early on Thursday. He said when he was in the big 12, it was just that, getting their tournament moved up to a Saturday. Depending on where the game is, you want to get back for the selection show (then the location of your NCAA game) , it's alot more going on that just a game on Sunday.

TIFWIW.. Maybe not that thrilled with conference tournaments???
