There’s your ball game.

Why leave Ole Miss now?

First shot at an SEC title since the 60s, and A lock for the CFP.
I see your point, but it’s just that the Ole Miss program isn’t on the same level as UF or LSU. Not knocking them, but UF and LSU are top tier as much as it pains me to say. Ole Miss is a rung below, or at least that is my perception, and likely others as well.

That took 6 years to build. LSU or UF will be instant talent in his backyard. It’s a no-brainer.
Oh there’s no question LSU has advantages in recruiting being the only relevant school in a great high school football state. And I think the route to a NC is easier at LSU vs Ole Miss and I think Kiffin has had to think about that. But it’s just wrong to say that players won’t come to Oxford. He isn’t having problems getting good players to come there. Last I checked his record has been consistently better in the last 5 years than LSU’s or Florida’s.

You can take Florida out of the equation. It’s down to LSU or staying at Ole Miss. Florida announced this afternoon that they were “moving on”. Probably because they know they are out of it.

Right, Oxford will always be home to a modest one-ring circus.

LSU is a full blown three-ring affair with the bright spotlights that Lane craves.

Oh it’s a three ring circus alright with the government involved in LA but I get what you mean. Never a dull moment down there and Lane would only make the gumbo spicier.

All I'll say about Kiffin anymore is if he leaves this team thats getting ready to go 11-1 going into a chance to make the playoffs, he's not making the right decision. If he's worried he can't win at Ole Miss then he proved the doubters wrong.

I don't think it is about winning - LSU, Florida, Penn State, etc. are just recognized as bigger schools to coach at.

Again, Cutcliff left with a championship for the taking.
Its what programs expect when they hire a coach. Get here today and start recruiting

It would be a massive mistake I believe as well.

He tried the big school thing at USC and it failed. While I believe he would be getting absolute stars and studs every year at LSU, why lose what you have at Ole Miss. Secured job, he's going to get paid very well if he stays the fans love him, etc

LSU is not a serious program with the way they operate football. Brian Kelly had a similar record to Huepel and they not only ran him out of town, they tried not paying his buyout. I wouldn't trust an organization like that

No question about that especially when a big ego is involved. And there is no bigger attention whore than Lane. If he stays at Ole Miss then he has definitely changed.

Marty Smith just said it. The only real variable between LSU and Ole Miss is if he feels that winning an NC is easier at LSU vs Ole Miss. If he stays, he feels he can get one in Oxford.
