Unofficial Coaching Search Thread

We got a coach to leave because of a petition. I didn't sign it so I guess I shouldn't say we. This is how bad our fanbase wants it.

Miles best year he won 20 games.He has never won more than 20. 13 years D1. 3 20 win seasons. 2 NCAA's 0-2.

TA best year 27 wins. Others of 26 several 23s. 18 years D1 coach. 9 20 win seasons. 4 NCAAs one Sweet 16 4-4 in the tourney.

Miles can't even break 20 wins in D1.

It's easier to get 20 wins at Harvard than it is at Nebraska.

I want Tennessee to at least interview:

USM's Donnie Tyndall
La Tech's Michael White
West Kentucky's Ray Harper(382-86 record)
Minnesota's Richard Pitino
UNM's Craig Neal

I'd never heard of Harper but his record is like Bruce's before he got here. That's definitely a guy Hart should at least take a look at

They do have a good fan base, but not a good as UT, but when was the last time they were relevant in basketball?

They were in the same spot as us at the end of the year. Only difference is they played themsleves out of the tourney with the loss to Bama. If they had beat Bama and won 1 game in the SEC Tourney they very well could have taken a spot.

Just realized I've been on Volnation for 6 years and just hit my 200th post.

If you like Jim Crews, I would suggest we look at Dan Dakich. He is the ESPN commentator who has coached at Indiana and Toledo.

Tennessee has Minnesota coach Richard Pitino on its short list of top candidates, multiple sources told ESPN.

I hope that short list has at least 10 names on it

Tennessee also looking at Southern Miss coach Donnie Tyndall, sources told ESPN. No leader has emerged yet.

Again, I hope there are at least 10 names on that list.....

Someone mentioned Ray Harper from western Kentucky, that will never happen. I don't think he would leave a place near his home town, 2, he got into serious NCAA troubles at Kentucky Wesleyan. BUT he was the one coach that I knew of that got under Bruce Pearl's skin when he was at USI. PLUS, if UT hired Ray it would piss off Pearl. 😁

So? It doesn't change that he's probably the best at a place like he is now; a league where 1 team gets a bid and he's good enough to make Harvard that team.

The only place I hear his name for coaching jobs is here.

And the fact that he makes the tourney in that one bid league speaks for itself. Also, a one bid league is just as tough a multiple bid league if you think about it. Talent level is equal to the teams within the league but not between them. The fact that he doesnt get blown out in the recent tourneys is also a plus. Most coaches at small schools are usually coaches that wash out at bigger schools and have to go through the progression or rebuild of career. Michigan was a long time in a powerhouse conference. SEC would be a good start at a Big 6 school for him since the SEC is only a 3 league at best. Amaker isn't the first coach to have a big school job and do bad and go back to a small school and do well. He sure as hell isn't the last either.

theres a difference between reporting facts and voicing his opinion

Maybe I'm just a spiteful person, but if I'm and "insider", I'm not going to share inside information with someone who public displays his opinion of the team I'm connected to "stinking".
