Unofficial Coaching Search Thread

Also, it is an absolute tragedy that Buzz Williams is off the market. That would have been a slam dunk.

I hadn't heard Tim Miles wouldn't leave. He's also a Don Meyer disciple. Don Meyer is a badass. Anyone who studies Don Meyer goes to the top of my list.

Amaker at Michigan was a long, long time ago.
/:hi:

So? It doesn't change that he's probably the best at a place like he is now; a league where 1 team gets a bid and he's good enough to make Harvard that team.

The only place I hear his name for coaching jobs is here.

The Tennessee Head Basketball Coach is not the top job in the SEC, but after Kentucky, and Florida, it's hard to find a school in the SEC that has such a devoted fan base.

How many other programs in the SEC have a 23k seat arena, and a fan base that is just looking for a reason to want to fill it every game? I say the UT job is the third best job in the SEC.

Arkansas is most likely a better job, but UT is 4th.

Amakar has a similar profile to Martin. Good basketball coach; not necessarily good at the other aspects of leading a major SEC program. I think there's a reason he failed at Michigan, but is having more success with Harvard.

I don't really want any of them but TA's resume is way better than Miles. He has never had a 20 win regular season. Crews is too old to not be a big name. Amaker also has the edge on name recognition of the three by far.

I'm not getting where Amaker is "way better" than Miles. He had one good season at Seton Hall and was terrible at Michigan. He's been 3 years in a row to the NCAAT at Harvard but again, he's in a league where 1 team is getting a bid.

After talking with a couple of sources this AM, I think things could move pretty quickly with UT's basketball search.

Miles best year he won 20 games.He has never won more than 20. 13 years D1. 3 20 win seasons. 2 NCAA's 0-2.

TA best year 27 wins. Others of 26 several 23s. 18 years D1 coach. 9 20 win seasons. 4 NCAAs one Sweet 16 4-4 in the tourney.

Miles can't even break 20 wins in D1.
