Well Arkansas State having 5 football coaches in like 5 years will be hard to be beat. That would skew the numbers but I would say you may be on to something.

I would try to get Marshall or Mack, heck borrow the money if you have to. The boost to the Basketball program will be epic. NOW is the time!

Tyndall has 200 career wins, 2 NCAAs, advancing in one, a 65% winning percentage despite taking over an absolutely horrendous situation at Morehead State, two conference tournament titles, a regular season conference title, hasn't finished worse than 3rd in his conference in his last 5 seasons, 4 25+ win seasons, and he's did it at places that aren't exactly swimming in resources vs Zo having advanced one round further in the tournament in his best season. He's 147-68 since he rebuilt Morehead, for a near 70% winning clip over his past 6 seasons.

The guy wins basketball games, every stop he's been at, he's just won games at a high clip.

Auburn hasn't exactly been slacking in the coaching change department the past 7-8 years either. Kinda working out for them though.

Yup and how bout Bammer, 7 coaches between 1996 and 2007... Last time I checked, they have a handful of diamond encrusted rings that say National/SEC Champs...

He got real bad publicity at the end of the UCLA run. I've always had lots of questions about why he had so many guys defect from the program at the end too. I also wonder why nobody will touch him with a ten foot pole despite him throwing himself at every job like a fat girl at last call.


That said, I think he could do well here and I wouldn't be mad about him, but he isn't my first choice.

I think if you are talking howland money, you have plenty of good options. I personally would be very happy with him, and many others.

Why we could get Marshall - he just lost a bunch of seniors and this year will be rebuilding. His stock will not be higher than it is right now and he could get at least 2.3 million from us. I really don't think we get him though. He is loved there, makes 2 million already and has much easier path to NCAA every year.

Shaka Smart is an easier get and in the 2 million per year range.
Howland is also available immediately and in the 2 million per year range.

They would be my top 2 we could get before this week ends and would be solid improvements over Martin.

Here's another good young coach,Dave Rice of UNLV. His record is 70-31 and he's been to the NCAA's two of the last three seasons(second round losses).

Howland is working for espn, how much would it really take to land him? Plus the fact you won't have to pay a buyout to get him saves you money as well.
