I noticed that some of our players including Dobbs like to wear a long untucked shirt beneath the jersey. I dont care about the fashion aspect as much as that the other teams are grabbing at this and being successful at making the tackle or holding us until help arrives. Wasn't the idea of all the skin tight tech fit material to not allow for opposing teams to grab? As big on the details as Butch is I would be shocked if he doesn't notice this.

YES, I've been at this since week 1 to my friends. At first it just looked ridiculous for obvious reasons, and now opponents are catching on and using it for tackling. It made me so mad, because the untucked thing has been on my nerves since the start.

It's not just them, it seems to be a trend throughout college football. I've seen several players in other games doing it.

I don't get it myself, seems counter-productive to the skin tight uniform aspect. I don't know if it's a comfort thing or what.

Noticed this a lot on Dobbs. Even if enough just to hold him up until help arrived. I hope this is pointed out by coaches because it was more noticeable in the A&M game

I noticed it looked sloppy. Then I noticed an A&M player grab a shirt tail and pull the player down (can't remember who it was). To be honest, I didn't put it together. Don't really know how big of a deal it is, but sure as hell wouldn't hurt to tuck them in and look a little more disciplined.

un-tucked shirts = no discipline = fumble football

tucked shirts = discipline = WGWBFA

Seems like I remember Cam being the 1st that started off a game with his undershirt out. Dobbs and others on the offense, don't intentionally wear theirs out. Dobbs was out against A&M because it was pulled out and he never tucked it back in. If you go back and look last season to now, it has never been a problem and everyone has theirs tucked. Now they do wear a small towel to wipe their hands, but no one wears their undershirts out intentionally.

It works both ways. For some reason our defense goes for stripping the ball as opposed to wrapping up. If the opposing team's players leave their shirts untucked, drag them down in the same fashion if need be. Either way, I hope our team is prepared to make the tackle. If we win, nobody mentions the untucked shirts. It's a mute point. We lose then we attribute it somewhat to the loose clothing.

Needs to be tear away shirts. :)

You must be an old fart like me, or a real student of Vol history. Every time a see a shirt tackle I remember our tearaways from long ago. Before they were outlawed. These trends are almost as bad as the unies worn by basketball teams now days.

So, take the time when on the sideline to tuck the damn back in. Surely they can do two things at once if they need to be listen to or talking to someone.

I would've gotten some scissors and cut the bottom of the shirts off so they couldn't grab at it anymore.

No you're wrong, the entire season players such as Kamara and Hurd have intentionally had theirs out at the beginning of the game.

Thought the same thing. Dobbs was tackled twice by his shirttail vs TAM. Tuck that ish in Joshua.
