Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

Get ready. Nobody will be hit harder by the move to adidas than basketball. Adidas basketball is the worst

That's what scares me. I think the basketball team's look is almost perfect. The only thing I'd change is I think the black uniforms are too plain and I think a cursive version would be better. But the homes, aways and the creams are perfection; they are the best they have looked since I've watched UT basketball. And in general I find the baseball uniforms all great. I really hope Barnes and TV can make it where they keep the same look.

The women's bball team I actually think needs an update but to be more like the men's where they get some that are modern updates of their traditional looks. Women's bbal still uses the basic look from when we switched to Nike and I actually didn't like most of the first wave uniforms for almost all the sports.

Women's basketball redesigned in 2018 and will have a redesign this year.

Finished in the top five in recruiting twice since moving to Nike, top 15 seven times. When you consider how bad the program was in some of those years, that’s not insignificant.
That traditionally is where we have always fell. Has nothing to do with Nike. We had top recruiting classes in the early to late 90’s and no Nike.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but saying that being with Nike over the last ten years has not helped recruiting is just being willfully ignorant.
No. I am just stating the fact that there is not a significant difference between the years we had Nike and other brands. In 1993 we had one of our top recruiting classes with Sports Belle. The 90’s and early 2000’s we had some top classes in the nation without Nike.

Although the uniforms were Russell Athletic and Sports Belle for those years, Tennessee’s shoes and player/sideline apparel were done by Nike from 1985 through 1996.

Regardless, we’re talking about very different eras. The influence of branding and shoe companies didn’t become a significant factor until the mid 2000s. You have to remember, Tennessee’s deal with Adidas that started in 1997 was one of the first all sport deals in the entire country.

The landscape of shoe brand having an impact on recruiting was probably most prevalent from 2010 through 2023. I can tell you that a lot of recruits didn’t consider certain schools during that time because of the brand they wore. You can believe it or not, I really don’t care, I know it to be true based on my contacts in the industry.
