Jason Swain
Antwan Stewart
Cory Anderson
Brett Smith
David Ligon
Matt McGlothlin
Which of these do you think can get an FA contract and make a team. I think all of them other than Ligon and McGlothlin will get FA deals, and I think Swain, and Stewart have shots at making teams

I'd say Swain and Anderson get FA deals...and I'd say Anderson has the best chance to get on board with a team.

Yeah, kinda surprised that Anderson didn't get drafted with all of the buzz from combines. I think Swain, Ligon, and Anderson get signed and Anderson gets stays on the team.

I though Smith had a better chance of getting drafted than Swain.. Since his combines were alot better.. and he has better size.. I see both Swain and Smith to get FA deals..

Stewart couldn't cover my grandmother, he definately won't make a team.

Swain should get a shot, runs pretty good routes but is not fast enough to cause any damage.

Anderson has the size and strength, it will all depends on how he performs on the field for a team.

Smith is a good enough receiver to make a team, but I doubt he will make a significant impact.

Smith was taller, but he weighed like 175. Swain was a couple inches shorter and weighed like 30 pounds more. Smith also has character issues and wasn't much faster. He was also very weak.

Could Swain potentially bulk back up and play TE somewhere? I know he's a bit short but has decent speed for the TE position and catches everything.

The Bills always love to sign Vols as free agents. I could see them getting Swain. The others don't have the size and/or work ethic to make a roster.

Based on what reason though? Too short?

Even if he adds 25 lbs., that still puts him at 6-foot, 230lbs. Not exactly NFL tight end measurements. The average tight end weight is around 255-260...I think Swain would have some trouble with his blocking assignments as an NFL tight end. And most of these guys are at least 6-foot-4.

He runs in the 4.6 range...if he adds another 25 lbs., I think that speed will drop off. Most NFL tight ends are running in the 4.7 range...and since Swain would already be undersized at the position, he really couldn't afford to lose a step.

Not to mention, it'd be an entirely new position for him.

Oh, I didn't know he was about 205... I pictured him around 215-220 and thats why I said 20-25 pounds.. I guess he was around 215 in the 2005 season.. yeah now that I know that 6'1 230 won't cut it.

Well, I think he's at 212. I'm thinking 20lbs. would put him at 230-235. Just not big enough.

They are 270 lb TE's who have trouble blocking in the NFL. No way could he pick up a big 290 lb defensive end and drive him off the ball he would get manhandled.

I was just thinking about David Martin but they have him listed at 265 lbs

David Ligon is a very smart young man. For that reason alone he would be worth offering a FA contract to. Center is a second QB possition on the offense and needs to be guys as smart as him.

I think his lack of size and "nastyness" hampers him however and he would need to bulk up to be worth a roster spot.

I wish him the best if that is what he wants.
