When my buddy asked him if he thought UT would be in 'AA trouble for the VIP status, the guy replied that he thought they would not (long version short was that if UT took care of it on their end, all would probably work out as a minor violation at worst). They acquaintance went on to say that he personally was involved with some bigger investigations centering on cash payments. He was unable to elaborate much further but told my buddy that he could figure it out by looking for developing stories coming from UNC and Alabama.

All that I can really verify is that the guy does work for the 'AA. So far his claim about UNC seems to be coming true.

Well, I guess all the info my buddy got from the guy at the 'AA seems to be coming to fruition. GRanted he left out USC and UF, but he got the other two a week in advance.

I think eventually most of the SEC will be "looked at" and cleared before all of this is said and done. The sad part is that any players that are being "looked at" likely won't play due to the small possibility that they might be found to be ineligible and then the school might have to possibly vacate wins.

UNC folks are going to be peed off if the football program impedes, in any way, the basketball program's success.

It's a basketball school. Not good for the UNC football program or Butch Davis. He's going to be less popular there than Kiffin was in Knoxville after he announced his departure, if that's possible.

Okay. That was overstating it. Scratch the CLK comparison.
