Good coaching going for 2 when you are outplaying another team is good coaching? Right...I am watching both of these teams play and they play hard and sound. They may lose but they are competitive. I canât believe they have that much talent more talent than Tennessee. Is that what good coaching looks like?
Mack did well at more than one program.
69-46 with no division or conference titles isnât exactly âwellâ......
Also, Phil waited his turn to take over the Alma mater instead of going into coaching early. Sure Phil only has 1 program vs 2 to compare to Brown, but letâs not act like Mack tore it up at UNC
Seems like people are worried that bragging on Mack makes JP look bad. He does not need any help with that.
Mack is a couple of wins away from being UNC all time winningest coach. They are a crap football school year in and out and he inherited a mess both stints there.
Saying he should have won the ACC is like saying Kirby Smart is a bad coach because he hasn't win the SEC. FSU went years without losing a conference game back in the day.

I'm with you on that, Bronco MendenHall is a good coach, with the coolest name for a coach. He did well at BYU and has shown steady improvement at UVA, which was a dumpster fire when he got there.I got absolutely horse laughed when I mentioned Bronco Mendenhall.. People kept saying he cannot recruit in the South, well he seems to be doing a damn fine job.
Phil did go and interview Minnesota. I believe his exact words were he was going to "interview them ". Anyways, after his interview he said Minnesota wasn't a good fit.He was out of the game for how long Post Texas? Also, had he not been at UNC, Brown likely doesnât get an offer.
Regarding Phil, does anyone know how serious he was about coaching at other schools? I ask that seriously.
Earlier in his career? Sure.
But Brownâs ârebuildâ of UNC has a ways to go.
Our roster and talent are nothing compared to what smart took over, not by a hell of a long shot.Kirby Smart has won the SEC. In his second year. With Mark Richtâs players and a freshman qb.
But People are acting like Mack Brown is no good because he built a basketball school into being competitive in football, but didnât win a championship there. And this is part of the problem for Volnation. We defend JP because âWho are you going to bring in that is gonna win championships?â. Ummm, we just need to get 6 wins in a season first. From what Iâve seen during the 16 game career of JP, we are going to need a lot of cupcakes on the schedule to get to 6 wins in a season. Of course we did that this year and have lost 2/3rds of the cupcakes.
Took him a while the first time around as well. Brown was 1-10 each of his first two years at UNC (only 1 ACC win in 2 years). Spurrier beat him 41-0 at Chapel Hill when he was at Duke and posed the whole Duke team for a photo below the scoreboard. Brown was about as popular then as Pruitt is now among many UT fans. Even the media joked about him. But he improved each year after that, and his last team at UNC in 1997was arguably the best team ever at UNC.Earlier in his career? Sure.

Watch Washington State play...now who is their coach???
