In 2016 the state appropriated nearly $600 million dollars to the University. You guys are in rare form today

How many dollars went to athletics dept.? $0

How many dollars did the athletics dept give to the University and academics side from their self funding? I'm unsure but know it was millions, I want to say $5 mil. but could be wrong.

Athletics Dept. And football Dept are not the same thing. TN football as a whole pays for everything,EVERYTHING. Baseball, volleyball, every other sport operate in the red, TN FOOTBALL pays its own way, as well as every other sports budget.

I think Mullin will be UF's primary target.

I'm not so sure....

AD Strickland said today:

1.) We won't (can't) talk to any active coaches until end of Regular Season (but not Bowl Season).
2.) It would be "good" to have a coach in place by Early Signing Day on December 20th to keep a good recruiting class intact (if not even better).

So obviously we are talking to Kelly first - only because he CAN be talked to because he is not actively coaching in NCAA. If he is agreeable, it will be a short search IMO. If not, the "word" here is that the press will be on for either for Gundy or Frost. Mullen, not so much. Great Coach, but not Foley's kissin' cousin (and Foley still "confers" with Strickland).

I also think that Strickland's pick of Randy Shannon as interim coach was perfect for a number of reasons.

Muschamp still has buyout left of $1.25m. Final payments within 6-12 months.
Mac technically had $12.5m but shot himself in foot with the microphone. Buyout won't disappear "for cause", but it won't be $12.5m either.
I agree with the points in this article why the buyout will be around $5m:
Report: Jim McElwain may get just $4 million, not full buyout - Alligator Army

Are you John Currie or how many calls have you been on, or donors have you talked to? If not/none, then the bolded items in your statements hold no more weight than any other comments on this forum and are nothing more than unsubstantiated opinions.
Good post!

Thats fair. It really is. But my point is mine is at least based in logical thought rather than wild irrational feeling. He's a professional with a background of doing his job, why would we assume otherwise?

Very good points. I agree that Kelly will (prob already has) get the first call for reasons mentioned. He will want Gruden-levels of money, though. He thinks VERY highly of himself. Could be smokescreen, however.

But, with the constant bemoaning of UF's offensive woes, and Mullin being the former OC there, and his current popularity on the market, and UF being a natural upgrade from MSU, it seems to make sense.

I agree completely about UF Offense (or lack thereof) could/should point to Mullen. But that won't happen IMO - not because of the somewhat "frosty" Mullen/Foley history but mostly because Mac was hired because of his offensive "expertise" and his previous tenure as OC at Alabama (and offensive production as HC at CSU). Muschamp was great for UF defense but offense withered. Mac was brought in to fix the offense - and it got worse! More concerning, our defense isn't even up to UF standards anymore! UF needs a HC who can improve on BOTH sides of the ball. Going after another offensive-minded coach like Mullen is a "been there, done that" thing here in Gainesville which has been a disaster. Therefore, as I said, if not Kelly right away, it will be Frost or Gundy. Short list and only list IMO.

Imagine you are a coach thinking about coming here and reading how divided this fan base is.... why would you come here?

... not to mention every elite program gets just as divided at new coach time.

Why was it that Fulmer was fired in 2008? I mean, back then, they didn't even have to think about it. He was just...gone. One year after winning the SEC East. They act like they are scared to death of Jones. Does he have photos of someone in the administration in a very compromising position? I'm starting to think that. I get a vibe from Jones. Like he knows he isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

This is awesome. I felt the same way watching him the last two games. A picture is worth a thousand 1,000 word contact. :)

How many of you are going to figure out that the Chancellor and the AD are the puppets of Jimmy Haslam. They are waiting on him to pull their strings. Complete BS. They should rename UT to Haslam University. They don't care about the alumni or the fans, only money. Pathetic!

So we really need to boycott Pilot and Flying J...

Despite my anger, I think he should have another shot with this team next year as well. But I'm not sure others feel the same way. The youth and depth on this team was painful.

He isn't working anywhere as an AD right now. So it had to be something that would have gotten him fired if he just up an resigned!

Therefore, you don't know for certain that it wasn't Jimmy Haslam that kept him from working for UT. I am certain. So, if you don't know what you are talking about, why say anything?

Currie didn't even hone the axe when everyone and his brother was calling for Holy Warlock's head last season.
Currie isn't raising the axe now that everyone and his brother is calling for Botch Jones' head.
Do you see the common denominator here?

Ha! Not even remotely the same situation. Football generates a little more revenue than Women's B-Ball.

but you still haven't answered my question. You stated that you knew it was not Jimmy who kept Blackburn from getting hired at UT but you don't know otherwise you would have said so by now. You are just guessing, for no reason. I know it for fact. Thanks for playing.
