I know this may sound crazy, but not all 100,000 fans follow Volnation. So it won't matter.

Also, the checkering of the stadium doesn't matter. Neither does the jersey colors. Or who picks us on Gameday. Or what our ranking is. Or what Bleacher Report says. Or if Butch Jones just uses coach speak.

It's matters what happens for 60 minutes at 3:30 on Saturday.

This thread was mostly meant just to be silly, but now I actually have a serious question...

If for discussion's sake we lost in gut-wrenching fashion yet again, does everyone still embrace the checkering?

Yes, just make it a homecoming tradition when UT usually plays it's late season OOC game, which is usually a weaker opponent. That will help get the win/loss over .500 for those that care.

It should always be the 1st big home game of the year. And by big I mean either SEC or a quality opponent that is not a gimme game like App St or Ohio. If VTech would have been at Neyland it would have qualified as big.

Next year will be the Ga game and that would be the game to go Orange and Gray Checkerboard.

Checkering Neyland is a great idea for fans and an amazing spectacle for TV audience.

Unless I'm mistaken, the players voted to wear the grey's this weekend.

And let's be honest, if you want to be superstitious, we've lost a ton more games to Florida wearing home Orange and without checkering than with grey and checkering (0-0 as of now)

There are quite a few people on here that need to seriously consider finding a healthier hobby than obsessing over the minutiae of college football. Maybe fly tying, or sudoku, I hear model trains can be relaxing. The amount of left field blather is reaching critical mass.

OP If you are in the white section and wear orange, then have everyone follow suit, wouldn't that just checker Neyland only the sections would be reversed?

Did you know that someone in the stands was wearing orange @every game we've lost in the last 40 yrs+. Guess we better change our colors and start over.

Instead of science try math.

Take the number of gut-wrenching losses we have had without checkering Neyland and compare it to the number of gut-wrenching losses we have had while checkeking Neyland.

We have lost some heart breakers before we ever started doing this.

It would take a million losses in "Checkered Neyland" to even begin to equate with losing to LSU because of having 13 men on the field. 12 men, maybe that's only a dozen checkered Neylands, but 13? THIRTEEN? You have to really _work_ to get to that number.

How about the other 10 times we lost to them? I'm sure we were wearing Orange and white. So why not change our team colors? Using your logic that would work. Right?
