Um, why didn't WE try to hire Norm Chow?

Fulmer would never try to hire someone that he couldn't control or would be a threat to him.

Because 1) chow wasn't cut by the titans until Jan 15, which came as a surprise to alot of the sports media considering the titans tendency to keep their coaching staff intact as much as they can. We hired clawson on Jan 11, and noone had any idea that chow was going to be cut at that point....save maybe the titans front office

and 2) chow was originally looking for a head coaching job in the college ranks before settling as UCLA's Offensive coordinator after he realized a good team would not take him as HC...we weren't going to try to sign someone as an OC who didnt want to be an OC, and neither were we going to fire the current coach b/c after a 10 win season it would look bad for the program and we weren't going to pay the huge buyout that would follow as well. Nor were we going to make a guy into a head coach who had zero experience as a head coach at this point

Point 1 was really more of the reason than point2. Had the timing worked out, well then maybe it would have worked. But we were already set and done by the time he was on the market

Crompton was/is awful. Clawson's (?) play-calling was pretty bad. We could've run outside all night on UCLA. We called way too may pass plays. Especially since Crompton couldn't hit a barn. Disgusting. It all comes back to Fulmer. Please fire him.

Chow never sold his California home which his wife still lived in. There was a 0% chance of us hiring him.

Yeah right..."We (alum) is to purr to buy a house" and close the deal. Another UT blunder compliments of our beloved AD.

This is correct.

Chow hated his time here in Tennessee with the Titans.

Literally less than zero percent chance of him coming to OC @ UTK.

One game, but Clawson looked horrible as OC.
For someone who is suppose to be so smart, he didn't look smart at all.
There was no rthyme or reason to his play calling. The running game was the only thing working the entire game, and he went away from it.

:ermm: Whats say we give the guy more than one game before we sail him down the Randy Sanders river. I mean he had a Qb with one game under his belt. Foster fumbled again inside the 10. All along we heard the defense was supposed to be pretty good for the bruins. I am all for burning someone at the stake however I feel they need at least half a season to prove themselves worthy or unworthy. If Arian does not fumble , Crompton does not go awol for 2/3 of the game and our sorry prevent 15 yard cushion and no coverage on on the tight end defense was schemed just a bit better we probably win by 17-20 points. It was a perfect storm of things that caused this loss. Not bad play calling by the first game under big time pressure OC. Granted we could have run the ball more or so it appeared but this loss was hardly a one trick pony.

I knew this I-AA thing would be a flop. Even Cut would have called a better game. At least Duke is gonna have a winning season this year.
