Um, why didn't WE try to hire Norm Chow?

I knew this I-AA thing would be a flop. Even Cut would have called a better game. At least Duke is gonna have a winning season this year.

I'm going to remember this post so that if/when Clawson gets it together we can revisit it. One game does not equal a flop. I think we should wait to pass judgment.

Chow never sold his California home which his wife still lived in. There was a 0% chance of us hiring him.

If crompton could have hit wide open receivers then we would be praising clawson now...

funny how that works, isn't it? all the poor coaching and playcalling in the world wouldn't have mattered if we had even half of those incompletions on target

I don't think it's totally out of the question to give Clawson more than one game to prove himself.

Well not really, because it really has nothing to do with incomplete passes its the play calling and timing and the fact that we could have ran the ball down their throat all day!! I hate admit it bc i am such a hator of the up the middle approach but i think it would have worked better against that def. also def every stat in the world had the ucla off as a non factor for our def!! thats the problem, i think Crompton did fine he just needs to learn when to move outside the pocket.. hes got good arm

Bottom line is that we didn't want Chow and what we saw him do the other night was not some product of genius.

He didn't take what the defense gave him, he took what his QB and line were capable of getting. It wasn't difficult. It makes him look like a genius that we didn't step up and slam the door on his tight end or tighten up our cushion some.

One game doesnt make a career....We got beat by an inferior team, get over it, boat race UAB and beat UF and all will be better.

He drove 150 yards in 3 minutes.. 5 yards at a time. We gave him the 10 yard cushion. I'm not saying Chow isn't what he's been billed as... but we have a knack for making even Major Applewhite look like a genius.

I am just not ready to give up on Clawson. I would definitley not consider him a flop already. It was his first big game and he was under a huge amount of pressure. You could tell that by just looking at his face. Agreed, he should be able to handle that at his position.

Except for the fact that he did not run the ball enough when we were clearly able to, I thought he called an okay game. Fulmer and Clawson both stated that Crompton held on the to the ball too long. I am not sure why he didn't roll out of the pocket, but I can't say that is all Clawson's fault either. Crompton has got to do a better job of picking up blitz and has to make better throws. I am not sure how he was throwing those in the dirt and making some of those high throws. I think the biggest problem is the offense does not have the new offense down as well as they thought they did once they were faced with pressure. They were clearly out of sync and their timing was off. I really believe Clawson kept throwing trying to get Crompton in a rhythym. Obviously, we should have pounded the rock and got the win but hind site is 20/20.

All in all, we were sloppy on both sides of the ball at times. Our special teams had problems and they have a lot of work to do before the next game. I am worried they have so many things to work out they will not be that much improved, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
