Ultimate bandwagon fan base?

I hate when people jump on the good ride. I've been there for 40 years and will be there another 40 if the good Lord lets me live that long. I wore my Bama gear in 3-8 seasons and I wear it now. I do not change. I have friends that were Gaytard fans when Tebow was there and now they like the Ducks. Like others have said they like who is good. Either pick a team and stay with them or dont cheer at all.

Atlanta fan base is sort of all over the place. Not necessarily band wagon fans but because no one in Atlanta is actually FROM Atl. That being said Atlanta never has had a hell of a lot to cheer about ... Hawks are always mediocre. Braves rarely win the big games when they count. Falcons really stunk until the last few years. UGA welllllll .... we all know how I feel about them. So usually in the city I would see a lot of fans of just about anyone who was hot at that time whether it was Fla, Fl st, Miami or whoever had the swag at that point. Atlanta is a hideous sports town who regularly draws as many fans of the OTHER teams as much as their own.

Definitely bammer. I just drove about 5 miles to work (in Murfreeaboro) and saw 2 bammer car flags. Makes me sick! After seeing the second one, I immediately pulled over and put my flags up.

As I drive around Nashville and see all the Alabama window decals, shirts, license plates, etc. that were NEVER around in the Price/Franchione/Shula era it makes me wonder who has the biggest bandwagon fan base. The Patriots? Yankees? Oregon? Lakers? Being a little biased, I would say Alabama. Everyone in this state who's aunt's boyfriend's dogsitter who drove through Alabama once is all of a sudden rocking the houndstooth. When TN starts winning again (soon) you are NOT welcome back.

You're wrong. I live in the Nashville area and there have always been a lot of Bama fans in this area. I will admit that there are a lot of bandwagon fans here now too, some people just want to root for a winner. Before last weekend you almost never saw a UT flag on a car, this year or last, this week they are everywhere, so who's the bandwagon fans? I respect fans of any school that sticks with their school regardless of how good or bad they are and have little respect for the ones that jump on and off the bandwagon.

What pi$$es me off even more is when someone says they are a Vols fan but also say they like Georgia or LSU or Florida. I like 3 teams my VOLS and whoever is playing Bama and Florida screw everyone else.

Considering those so called Alabama fans are also fans of some of those same teams. I was talking to an "Alabama" fan and I asked him what his "favorite" teams were. No joke, he answered by saying Patriots, Yankees, and Lakers...I said, "sure, that makes sense." What a typical bandwagon fan.

Wrong about what? I didn't say ALL Alabama fans were bandwagon, just a lot of them. In the early 2000s you had to flip over rocks to find them in TN. I respect fans of all teams who are there through thick and thin.

Saying Bama is to college football what the Yakess are to baseball,Patriots to the NFL,and Lakers to the NBA?Thanks

Bama is definitely number one in regards to band wagoners.....my O-Chem professor is a Vandy grad and got his doctorate at Memphis........but he is always decked out in crimson. My brother in law has Alabama gear coming out of his azz,a huge Alabama flag mounted to the front of his house, and the guy doesn't even watch college football,he just knows it is "cool" to be a Bama fan.I tried having a conversation with him one day about the team and he didn't even know the players names. I would say Oregon is quickly catching them however........there are dozens of Oregon band wagoners right here on VN.

It was sickening when I moved to Nashville and it's even more sickening when visiting Knoxville. I'm all about some southern hospitality but let's not be too accommodating.

I always ask the bammers who graduated from alabama why they didn't stay down there. They always say the same thing. The jobs are here.

I tell them that if they really cared about that state, they would start a business there and employ a few bammers. Get them out of the trailer parks.

Alabama has without question the most bandwagon fans of any fanbase in the south. Don't get me wrong, they've got lots of true, hardcore fans- saying otherwise would be just plain ignorant. I'm not sure what it's like in other regions, but in the south the bammers have the biggest bandwagon. I also happen to think we have the biggest fanbase in the south in terms of numbers. In terms of waistline, it's between the Bubba's and the Gators.

Oregon here too. They're the most annoyingly trendy team, with stupid shiny uni high flying football lameness. Chip Kelly was a cheat, how come we never hear about their recent NCAA slap on the wrist BS?

People that like Oregon are like people that gravitate towards pilot gas stations. Shiny, new and cool.

I just don't understand what kind of enjoyment people get out of being bandwagon fans. Must be a self-esteem thing. Maybe they feel better about themselves because they're cheering for a winning team?

I love MTSU and the Titans, and have been cheering for both for years, but my passion for those teams doesn't even compare to my love for the Vols. I guess the closest I've come to being a "bandwagon" fan is hoping the Broncos do well this year because of Peyton, but I can't exactly say I get any joy or sadness out of their Ws or Ls.

Yeah they're everywhere. One of my bosses always wore vandy clothes growing up. We are same age. He has been a Nama fan for 5 or 6 years now

Well in his defense, it sounds like he has paid his dues by having to be a Vandy fan for so long. He should get a pass :)

I'm a student at A&M (and still a huge Vol fan!), but the amount of bandwagon fans I see is disturbing. There's A&M stuff all over Austin now. That used to be unheard of.

They don't bother me. If I lived out there, I'd happily ride that bandwagon. :loco:

Braves? Lived here my whole life and I grew up a Reds fan. As far as NBA goes....whats that? :)

You know, NBA...
They are the other organization like MLB.
Plays too many games, no one tries until the playoffs start, yadda yadda yadda it's very boring until deep in the playoffs.

I'd like to see the percentage of their fans that gave a crud about them when they sucked. Most of us have been Vol fans for over 20 years I'd say. :loco:

True. Which is why I wouldn't mind being a bandwagon fan of theirs if I lived out there. Could ride the wave while it's good and have a little fun. Life's too short.

I was born in Baltimore- I don't like the ravens.

I was raised Catholic- I don't like ND- Well, Joe Montana.

I am retired Army- I like Air Force women.

I have lived in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

I have lived in TN since 1995, and will always be a VFL.

I've noticed among millions of VOL fans, good years and not so good years, we are VOLS forever.

Just keep an eye on all these bandwagon fans you see every now and then, and once the VOLS start competing again for SEC championships, when they switch hats, call them out.

Sorry so long.
