Ukraine Protests

Gotta love Russia, we're not invading! Why are self-propelled artillery units being deployed to Sevastopol?

Because Russia's not invading.

Honestly, Russia invaded Ukraine a few days ago. All these mysterious "self-defense" militias that somehow find the act of self-defense validated by guarding an airport for no ****ing apparent reason pretty much demonstrate this. What? Was the Ukraine going to storm the Crimean international airport and "BLAST OFF!" according to Gen. Buck Turgidson?

Gotta love Puthead.

Real quick...

Is there a chance we go to war with Russia?

Russia and the Western powers agreed to uphold the security of the Ukraine in order to give them reason to give up Soviet era nuclear stockpiles within the Ukraine in the 1990s. So there is legal basis for it.

They were already there. These are the reinforcements.

Because Russia's not invading.

I know, but if they were not planning offensive actions there are no need for SPA units.

Ukraine. Memorandum on Security Assurances - Wikisource, the free online library

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,

Welcoming the accession of Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as a non-nuclear-weapon State,

Taking into account the commitment of Ukraine to eliminate all nuclear weapons from its territory within a specified period of time,

Noting the changes in the world-wide security situation, including the end of the Cold War, which have brought about conditions for deep reductions in nuclear forces.

Confirm the following:

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the CSCE Final Act, to respect the Independence and Sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine.

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defense or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the CSCE Final Act, to refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind.

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their commitment to seek immediate United Nations Security Council action to provide assistance to Ukraine, as a non-nuclear-weapon State Party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, if Ukraine should become a victim of an act of aggression or an object of a threat of aggression in which nuclear weapons are used.

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm, in the case of the Ukraine, their commitment not to use nuclear weapons against any non-nuclear-weapon State Party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, except in the case of an attack on themselves, their territories or dependent territories, their armed forces, or their allies, by such a state in association or alliance with a nuclear weapon state.

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will consult in the event a situation arises which raises a question concerning these commitments.

This Memorandum will become applicable upon signature.

Signed in four copies having equal validity in the English, Russian and Ukrainian languages.

No , Barry would never allow it .

Sure he would ...

I honestly believe that you have a poster of him on your bedroom wall. And feel ashamed about it. Honestly, I can't explain your obsession with him otherwise, particularly regarding this situation.

Perhaps if you told us what it is you would wish him to do. And to be clear, I'm equally against him. I'm just not as infatuated with him as you apparently are.

Those who would wish to handle the situation themselves, please post how you would handle such delicate matters.

I would like his resignation..

While I find your argument concerning what he should do concerning Russia and the Ukraine admittedly weak, fair enough.

It's too late , Putin has zero respect for Barry and there's really nothing we can do . That missile shield defense system he scuttled would definitely have given us better leverage. Vlads no fool , he smells the blood in the water.

Too late, the pooch is already screwed now.

This happens because he has displayed weakness since he has come on the scene. Putin knows there is no risk for him here, thus there's no reason to not do what he wants.

People shouldn't confuse his willingness to shoot some Somalians in a dinghy as having ing some balls. Putin has laughed in this guy's face since day one. And he is infinitely smarter, despite not having attended Harvard.

As Alonzo said, someone is playing checkers and someone else is playing chess. You guess which is doing which.

So, in other words, WWIII is the answer? That our just keep playing the world's bully card, which is what has gotten us into our interesting predicament (to say the least) to begin with?

And to reiterate, for the 15th, or 20th time (I've lost count now), I'm not a supporter of Obama. I'm just a realist.

Honestly, it's really amazing how you guys hate Russia.

Putin's Russia is a faux conservative wet dream.

It's no wonder some of you liked that meme previously posted, whether or not it's actually legit.

But, to be sure, yes, Russia has a flat tax, hates gays, and discourages dissent (to say the least) against the establishment.

Honestly, you all might prefer Russia. I know that seemed odd during the Cold War, but it's apparently your destination now. And Vlad is your guy.

Damn commie socialists fascists bastards!

Liberal America is our one hope! I mean our FFs were liberals, so why not liberals carry the badge today?

The problem is, if you're going to be the checkers player, you can't also be the wuss. That's a bad combo.

You need to be a badass if you can't outsmart the other guy. Our guy is in second place in both columns here.

Got it all wrong my friend. Those just have those big flags that say "boom" on them that pop out.

Putin, that big kidder!

Chassis looks a bit long for a 2S1, but nothing else fits in all seriousness. Either way, SP guns rolling into the Ukraine is not exactly what I would send in for "defensive" measures. This could get way more serious if Russia backs Yanukovich.

I'm just an amateur here :hi:

Just thought they fit the profile based off the pic we're seeing.
