Ukraine Protests

The way I look at it, when America stupidly causes a war that ends up causing any particular European nation (or, hell, even Europe at large) a combined 600,000-700,000 dead and over 2,000,000 casualties, we'll then begin to consider discussing whether or not America is good for Europe.

I just have no place for ignorant filth.

I have a vision for you, Louder.

You shall build a thread. It will be called "China Thread."

If you build it, they will come.

They, as in mostly just Velo, Ras, Pacer, Grand Vol, Red, and myself. Basically just the main participants of this thread.

Speaking of China, I heard some critics argue we should join their new bank. And they've asked for the Yuan to serve as a world reserve currency alongside the dollar.

I'll only visit the China thread if someone promises to bring a few containers of those awesome boneless spareribs that you get as appetizers.

The fact that country A buys energy from country B makes the former a "slave"?

No, in itself it does not. But, it certainly does when you're willing to turn your back to territorial changes for it, which is what Europe largely may have been willing to do. Luckily, they pulled through and proved themselves full of some mettle.

To Ras's point, I'm not going to pretend like the US wasn't in a better position for forcing sanctions or that it didn't pressure Europe, but, they're still sovereign countries (unbeknownst to him), and they ultimately decided to act for themselves as well.

One of the things Ras and other detractors don't understand, is that Europe is full of nations with many ethnic minorities who have been living where they're currently living for centuries. If an ethnic group somewhere thinks it needs a nation of its own, this affects them all. It's very destabilizing.

Europe does not want to be the Middle East, despite Ras's wishes that it would be apparently.

You must go to fancy Chinese restaurants. I just go to Chinese buffets, where I get high quality Chinese food like cheese sticks, garlic bread, and pizza rolls.

Sorry, but another thing that really pisses me off about that RT story I posted is that it implies that Russia is the only country in Europe that is allowed to march and maneuver its forces around (obviously, RT isn't smart enough to realize this), or to even do anything, for that matter.

So, let me get this straight:

1. Russia is the only country in Europe that can have a missile defense shield.

2. Russia is the only country in Europe that can parade its military vehicles around and maneuver them across the country. NATO nations aren't allowed to do so. And when 3 people who have about has much sense as my dead great-grandmothers protest the NATO movements, it's obviously an usurping of national sovereignty.

3. Russia is the only country in Europe that is allowed to consistently keep threatening others with nuclear weapons. (Add another stupid Russian to the list: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/russian-doctor-military-sciences-says-181400470.html)

4. Russia is the only country in Europe allowed to conduct military drills along another country's borders.

5. Russia is the only country in Europe allowed to have its armor and troops in another country. (Don't play coy, Ivan.)

If our trolls wanted to point out legitimate issues instead of Russian propaganda, they'd post stuff like this.

It's amazing that Eastern Ukrainians know more about the vex America causes than most Americans..

Maybe you weren't watching very carefully. The woman quoted, no doubt influenced by Russian propaganda, admitted that she had not seen any Americans. But she had seen someone Polish, or otherwise foreign, so obviously the west is to blame.

If Russia is so concerned, why isn't it shipping adequate food to "DPR"? It controls the border there.

Nothing exactly new here, although it's just nice to see people who actually appreciate American efforts instead of constantly castigating us. Certainly we're worthy of castigation, like most nations, but surely we can't be so awful as for no one to ever appreciate us anywhere.

“I feel like we’re together and I feel that doesn’t obfuscate my reporting, but I do feel a bond, a kinship, with these people of Donbass,” he said. “This charity event might blur the line of the journalist, but I think within the scope of a journalist you can do some good.”
yeah no, if you are raising money for one side you are not impartial.

“I’m completely opposed to the Anthony Blunts and Kim Philbys; all these people put the interests of another country before their own; they’re just traitors,” he said. “I think I’m the opposite, I’m correctly representing the position Great Britain should be, instead of the malinformed position the government has taken under the malaise of the European Union and overwhelming weight of the Western world perpetuating this propaganda that emanates from the U.S.”
read this with a chuckle. working with the US=evil, doing the exact same thing for Russia=morally right thing to do. love the unbiased journalistic opinion this guy can give. a journalists job is to report, its up to the viewer to decide right from wrong. and yes american MSM does this too, which is part of the reason i watch so little of it.

The only right person in this confrontation is the person who refuses to take a side.

I do honestly believe that.

But, I'm not concerned with being right. I'm just concerned with bombing Moscow.
