Ukraine Protests

I have no idea why mainstream media has refused to cover this open Russian invasion of another sovereign country these past few days. One would think that a nuclear armed, P-5 UN Security Council member invading their peaceful neighbor would be considered important news.

So much for the "American media are stirring Americans up into a frenzy so they'll want to invade Russia" meme.

I've been wondering why the reporting in general has been so sparse. This gets a little into it.

So Churkin said during the UNSC meeting that, "There are Russian volunteers fighting in Ukraine. No one's hiding it." So my question to you Ras now, how can you deny that Russia has invaded a sovereign country?

I was busy being a warrior of instruction at UT, so I missed it. I would imagine, however, he was following the current Russian govt. line that yes, there are Russians there, even military, but they are either there as veterans or there while on leave. In other words, they're either retired or spending their vacation time in eastern Ukraine.

To think that anyone would actually believe that the Russian govt. would allow Russian military personnel, even those on leave, to just go carousing through eastern Ukraine without its approval makes me sad to be a human being.

In other words, Ras, you make me sad to be a human being.

Looking more and more like, at minimum, a small tract of land running from Crimea to Russia along the Sea of Azov is going to be Russia at some point.

I know people in the late 30s probably thought the same, but it really is hard to believe that we're watching this unfold in our own time.

Does it go that far? Probably not. But, up until this point, it's basically been a carbon copy.

For all the love and admiration rightists have heaped upon macho manly man Putin this past year, he really has carried out this invasion in a weaselly, slimy manner.

Have you ever noticed that, when Putin practices Judo, he's always flipping a boy?

Even Obama's "mom jeans" thinks that's pathetic.

It's not so much "love"rightists have for Putin as is it disdain and disgust that we hold for our weak ass supreme leader. Ever wonder how different the landscape would look if we had a prez who didn't paint imaginary red lines and make idle threats?

^^But so far successful. Don't like the man but you have to admit he at least has a plan.

What would you say his plan is, hog?

In other words, what would you describe as the strategy of a man who has neither Afghanistan, Iraq, ISIS, Syria, nor Israel/Gaza to worry about?

What's his long-term plan?

Is this a serious post?

And, I didn't want to go here, but I'll remind you all again that I've read a 600-page book on Russian history.

So just mind who you're talking to here.

I was just fumbling between CNN and the SEC games tonight and caught a report from a British female reporter on the ground in eastern Ukraine. Anderson Cooper was asking her about the possibility of "Russian volunteers" in Ukraine, and she responded, very matter-of-factly, "Yes, they're volunteers, if you like seeing tanks."

Ras, that's your gal. Opposites attract, my friend.

You actually turned on the news on the first major night of college ball?

You deserve to be tarred and feathered
