Ukraine Protests

id bet my left nut that Ukraine didnt ask Putin for any aid. Id tell em to turn the rucks around and stay the hell out of my country. Of course without US boots on the ground they are scared to stand up for themselves, or do anything really, out of fear that Putinwill go ahead and roll the T72s across the border and annex the whole country. So glad us dumbass warhawk conswrvatives spend so much on defense...we dont have to worry about any aggression from our neighbors, or anyone else for that matter save cowardly terrorists.

Ukraine actually was allowed to inspect the vehicles across the Russian border today, along with Western news sources. That's where we're getting the images of the half-empty, 3/4ths empty, and (I've even seen) completely empty convoy trucks. The stipulation was that Ukrainian border guards inspect the trucks in Russia, then decide whether or not to approve the border crossing. I don't know how the events concerning the exchanges between Ukrainian and Russian forces inside Ukraine will affect this, but I would assume negatively at best.

And, just for the record, the latest edition of the Russian tank is the T-90. Keep up! :)

Like I said earlier in this thread, if someone amassed a bunch of troops in Memphis, is that within spitting distance of the North Carolina border?

I would consider the 23/24 apcs in Raleigh within spitting distance. And there have been confirmed sightings of more military vehicles shadowing the convoy which is announced to be heading to North Carolina via the Cumberland Gap.

Russian_Vol is a Kremlin troll. That's my theory.

who avoids so many points and topics its amazing. but in every forum people report increased numbers of bots from eastern europe and Ukraine, or as the Russians know it "our newest territory"

Maybe Russian_Vol was one of Putin's original Internet trolls to maliciously infiltrate the webs (since he's been here since 2007). Anyhow, we're on to him now. He won't get away with this!

Can't remember anyone else sending a bunch of near-empty trucks for humanitarian relief

If you're teaching freshman writing you should receive hazard pay.

I've taught worse, but yes, that's darn near the bottom wrung. I know this is VolNation, and we all love our football team, but the worst courses I have are when I have football players in my comp. classes. Most of them are just awful students. I think they're all under the impression they're going to be playing in the NFL shortly. Whenever I look at my roster at the beginning of the semester and see that I have a football player(s), I just sit down, sigh, and stare out a window for an hour or so thinking about how depressing my life will be this semester.

To be fair though, I've had one or two who were decent students out of the 10 or so I've taught. The rest were just awful.

I get the impression that Vlad Putin thought Ukraine was just going to roll over and play dead in the east, like it did in Crimea. He really overplayed his hand, which leads me to believe that we will soon see a very significant increase in hostilities. If Putin overplays his hand, he forces a new card game.

I don't think Putin had any intents of even being involved in Ukraine or Crimea until the US lead coup began simmering during the Sochi Olympics...

So explain years of Russian intelligence penetrating and worming their way into Ukrainian military and security services? The sad state of the Ukrainian security apparatus was the direct result of a long-term plan by Moscow to degrade Ukrainian capabilities should a crisis like this ever happened.

Russian_Vol, I know you think that you know Russia. But it's painfully obvious you don't. Just sit back, zip mouth, and watch. That will be the better for you. The less you talk about Russia, the smarter you look.

You are starting to see the term "Atlanticist" enter into the lexicon instead of "Western".

The Ukraine, Corrupted Journalism, and the Atlanticist Faith | Global Research

The Dutch population was rudely shaken out of a general complacency with respect to world events that could affect it, through the death of 193 fellow nationals (along with a 105 people of other nationalities) in the downed plane, and its media were hasty in following the American-initiated finger-pointing at Moscow. Explanations that did not in some way involve culpability of the Russian president seemed to be out of bounds. This was at odds right away with statements of a sober Dutch prime minister, who was under considerable pressure to join the fingerpointing but who insisted on waiting for a thorough examination of what precisely had happened.

The TV news programs I saw in the days immediately afterwards had invited, among other anti–Russian expositors, American neocon-linked talking heads to do the disclosing to a puzzled and truly shaken up audience. A Dutch foreign policy specialist explained that the foreign minister or his deputy could not go to the site of the crash (as Malaysian officials did) to recover the remains of Dutch citizens, because that would amount to an implicit recognition of diplomatic status for the “separatists”. When the European Union en bloc recognizes a regime that has come into existence through an American initiated coup d’état, you are diplomatically stuck with it.

That's funny.

Every now and then I attempt to listen to an interview with a current or former player. We're not talking just freshmen here--people who have been at UT several years. It's quite an ordeal.

Do tutors or someone teach them how to keep repeating the same phrases? One guy started every other sentence with "it's like . . ."

Oh well.

New York & London thinkers, writers and politicians = Atlanticists

One should keep in mind that there are no European-wide newspapers or publications to sustain a European public sphere, in the sense of a means for politically interested Europeans to ponder and debate with each other big international developments. Because those interested in world affairs usually read the international edition of the New York Times or the Financial Times, questions and answers on geopolitical matters are routinely shaped or strongly influenced by what editors in New York and London have determined as being important. Thinking that may deviate significantly as can now be found in Der Spiegel, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Zeit and Handelsblatt, does not travel across German borders. Hence we do not see anything like a European opinion evolving on global affairs, even when these have a direct impact on the interests of the European Union itself.

Earlier on Twitter I was seeing chatter about another Russian incursion at the same time a convoy deal between Russia and Ukraine was being announced.

What a weird developing situation.

The idea (or charade) of "student athletes" is a total joke and archaic. But that is a subject for another thread.

Yes, the term has been around for a little while now, but not nearly as long as the term "Eurasianist."

And I took Global Research seriously for all of about half a day, before I realized it's a site for anti-American, anti-Semitic, neo-Nazi academics around the globe to get together and stroke one another off. Seriously. I'm not lying. I was reading one of their articles one day; it sounded smart and I was reading along, and I **** you not, the author suddenly said something like, "In typical Jew fashion, blah blah blah...." I stopped reading and started looking around at other articles posted there.

Just a bunch of weird anti-Western racist academics. I don't know what they expect that will be better. But, judging from their articles, they won't mind having numerous people executed to get their way. They're trash. And I would advise you to stop taking them seriously.

It would have been very easy for Ukraine to check the convoy trucks and verify if they truly had humanitarian aid or if they carried weapons and made a decision quite easily without all of this nonsense.

All the neo-Nazis are in Western Ukraine/Kiev. Those are the guys we (the US) put into power.

At major universities like UT, yes, it is. To be fair though, the students I've had in other sports, specifically female athletes, have been excellent students. They've been some of the best students I've ever had. It's just that the football and basketball players (and it's not just me who has experienced this) think they're all going to be rich as hell one day, so they either show up to class and completely tune out in one way or the other or just generally act disrespectful to almost everyone.
