Ukraine Protests

And we thought our government was a model in corruption. Jeez. I have to admit, it's been a very effective propaganda campaign on the Kremlin's part. All you have to do really, is just get it out there, and then it becomes reality. It wouldn't matter what evidence or counterevidence you could provide contrary to the "fact," it would still remain the "fact" for many. At the very least, there would still be enough doubt in the minds of many that they'll react suspiciously towards Kiev and the West.

I still argue with some posters on RT to this day about the 400 American mercenaries in Ukraine. They still claim it's a fact. I think one even linked me a video or photos "proving" it, but I didn't bother to look. Not enough hours in the day to just be wasting them looking at bull****.

Must not be big outdoors sports fans in Russia

The country currently only has three stadiums with a capacity of more than 35,000, and two-thirds of the stadiums for the tournament are being built from scratch.

Even Mississippi State has a bigger stadium than that.

Probably not, quite frankly. It's like this: during the winter months, you can sit out there in -10 weather and attempt to enjoy a soccer match, or, in the summer months, when it's 81 degrees outside, you can pass out. (Keep in mind, the average yearly temp. throughout the majority of Russia is probably 10 to 30 degrees, so anything over 80 probably feels like 110 degrees to them.) Probably just not much compelling them to go. Just stay in and watch it on TV.

LOL @ RT

I don't know who's more pathetic: the people at RT that purposefully fabricate, or the people who read/watch RT and actually take it seriously. Probably the goofiest damn news network I've ever seen, but I still can't resist it; it's comic gold. Some of their posters make Yahoo News posters (aka, mouthbreathers) seem calm, rational, and informed. Absolutely everything over there is a "jew Nazi fascist" conspiracy to take over the world.

Officially, the Kremlin has denied arming, financing or directing the insurrection in eastern Ukraine, but its active support of the rebellion has been openly acknowledged in recent days. Separatist leaders have complained about the low quality and advanced age of the weapons provided by Russia and a lack of more proactive assistance as they have come under heavier attack by the Ukrainian military.

On Tuesday, apparent new evidence of Russian military aid appeared on the roads of eastern Ukraine as convoys of tanks and smaller vehicles drove west through rebel-controlled territory toward Donetsk. Shortly after 10 a.m., a column of eight tanks, four large armored personnel carriers, and an assortment of smaller civilian cars and minivans wound its way through the small town of Vuglegirsk.

So the above clip isn't much of an aberration?

I've watched a few minutes every now and then, and observe the rhetorical spin they put in the reports, but didn't see any of the over-the-top Hitler genocide stuff.

No, that particular clip is a bit of an aberration. It's not usually that intensely dumb. But every time you watch them or go to their website, you can't quite shake the feeling that plenty of dumb is always just right around the corner.

As Lisnichuk and his team did mopping-up operations, the Russian television First Channel news program carried a gory account by an "eyewitness" about Ukrainian troops crucifying a 3-year-old boy in front of his mother in Slovyansk's central square.

Just watched a video of a reporter asking locals about this

Not really newsworthy (the locals deny it happened) but it does give some flavor as to what some of the old people think of what's been happening.

Those damn Russians won't stop, will they? I have to admit, it has been a magnificent PR victory on Moscow's part. Just say it, put it out there, and it becomes truth (or at least creates enough skepticism) for those you wish to manipulate. It's been masterfully ran and, provided you have an IQ lower than 50, it has most likely been well-received.

How would you even begin to crucify a three-year-old? With two sticks tied together in the shape of a cross? Boy, you'd have to be hopelessly mentally defective to buy that one.

I'm currently reading an extensive study on Russian history, because it has always fascinated me, even as a kid. I'm going to be honest with you all, how anyone is still even alive in that country or its former republics is just beyond me. It's just one big, long history of killing, massacring, and starving other or of being killed, massacred, and starved by others.

I have to admit, they're quite a magnificent and resilient people, although I wouldn't care to ever live there myself.

Breaking: New US sanctions ban #Russia's Gazprom Bank, Novotek, Rosneft & others from US financial system. Big firms, big price

Then there is this;

@PaulSonne 1m

The latest round of sanctions limits access to US financing for the named businesses but doesn't prevent US entities from dealing with them.
