Ukraine Protests

Ukraine has nothing to gain and everything to lose by restarting the war. While the rebels have everything to gain and nothing to lose. So which side is more likely to escalate things? Thinking logically one would say it would be the rebels.

Well hold on... the point of contention is who has the most the gain from starting the war. You say the rebels have the most to gain, yet to others, it appears that Kiev has the most to gain because they are assured of getting American/Western military support and they have to regain the eastern portion of Ukraine that has the productive manufacturing infrastructure. The rebels gain nothing be attacking Kiev.

so what? they are kicking a fire ant hill and hoping that their neighbor sees them in trouble and lends them a can of wasp spray?

So why are they attacking?

what he said is laughable. 1. more territory. 2. more ethnic Russians "looking for freedom from Ukraine's oppression." 3. a land connection to Crimea. 4. destabilized neighbor (means they can't join NATO) 5. a chance to blood their soldiers, i mean volunteers. (on that point how long can this volunteer period last for an individual soldier? months? do they not have bills to pay?)

Get out of the 60's..

The paranoia is thick amongst the herd..

Once again though only one country has annexed sovereign territory of another country in the past decade and hasn't been a Western country...

The freedom-lovers have done it de facto thrice times in the last decade. Only country on Earth to even do it once.

Absurd.

MH17 Fragment To Be Exhibited On Victory Day In Russian Museum, Run By State-Funded 'Warrior Brotherhood'

But I guess if you're the type that brings the corpse of a Ukrainian soldier that you killed to a press conference, maybe this makes sense.

That side really is a bunch of strange birds.

But, I guess it kind of makes sense. It's like what you all were saying before: that side really doesn't have anything to lose, so they can pretty much do whatever the hell they want.

Ukraine, on the other hand, is trying to keep a nation together and from unraveling. There's a very thick red line in which they can't cross.

Why is this absurd?

Indulging in your fiction that Russia had nothing to do with the plane:

Say the Canadians shot down an Italian airliner over Manitoba, killing 300 people. Wouldn't you think it entirely inappropriate for the Smithsonian to have a special Fourth of July holiday exhibit, showcasing pieces of the plane?

Are you going to live blog Putin's news conference tomorrow?

Haven't given it much thought until you asked, but maybe. I was going to just watch clips of it posted later and read some of the transcript. Depends too on how much it conflicts with my corrupting the youth schedule.

A Russian poster on another site tried to frame this as a corporate decision.

Even RT didn't try to hide what really happened.

The decision to pull the movie was taken by Central Partnership after the final screening of Child 44, the statement said. Experts from the Ministry of Culture took part in the screening.

Meanwhile, a source familiar with the issue told TASS news agency that it was the Ministry of Culture, which initiated the film’s recall.

They're such a zombie nation, but I know it has become a part of their national DNA due to all the centuries of invasions, insecurity, and paranoia.
