Don't artists, musicians enjoy wider license? They aren't representing an organization. The performance is apolitical.
The issue here for me is the extent to which this presents grief for the orchestra. If her concert was going to generate a large protest outside, that's a problem. But it's not apparent to me how much people were really worked up over this.
Honestly I don't know. and this is the Toronto Orchestra so its not America, so i am even more out of the loop there. Unless she said some real bad stuff against individuals (death threats, "so and so should die", "wouldn't it be great if everyone in Kiev died") type of things I don't think she should have been pulled. mostly what i have heard about her is just talking politics and so is no ones business.
eh, the only people going are probably the snobby rich so i doubt there will be much of a protest. however i didn't know Canada had a significant Ukrainian population before this.
