Oh, i have known exactly why the want to be part of NATO, and its not for the cool letterhead. its just nice to hear it from the horse's mouth.

question for Ras and Pacer and Red as well. if the baltics get some 'independence' movements happening along their Russian border would that change your mind about what is going on in Ukraine?

I don't think the Baltic's will be next, Moldova is definitely next under the gun.

they have already had their spell. besides land, i don't know what else Moldova has to offer Russia (admittedly i know next to nothing about it)

Yes. Yes!

The same CNN reporter who did the Russian anti-Maidan was just reporting from Donetsk. She said that it was remarkable how, in the middle of all of this, was the complete ignoring of Ukrainian (or any nation's) national agency. In other words, whenever something doesn't go your particular war, it's all America's fault sort of thing.

That's what I've been criticizing Ras and Pacer for this entire time. They're such bizarre American exceptionalists, they can't allow for another country to actually have a will.

It was one year ago last weekend that a violent coup overthrew the legally elected government of Ukraine. That coup was not only supported by US and EU governments -- much of it was actually planned by them. Looking back at the events that led to the overthrow it is clear that without foreign intervention Ukraine would not be in its current, seemingly hopeless situation.

Thought I would share my friends. I am just tired of wars, decades of seeing nothing but waste. Roosevelt told Churchill that he was about to send him our country's most valuable assets. Our young people. He was right. Tired of seeing our young people come home with missing limbs and emotional problems. Not another war. We need to rebuild this country and we need our young people to do it. No more foreign wars. Enough.

The only part of this you got right was the foreign intervention part and by foreign intervention I mean the Russians.

P.S. Still haven't gotten over Belgrade, either, apparently.

you also need to read cdizzy's timeline. the article you link makes some of the same jumps other posters in here have made despite the simple facts of the dates of these events largely disprove the angle you are pushing.
