Ukraine Protests

Since you are pro-secession, are you in favor of Russia granting independence to the following regions:

-Chechnya
-Dagestan
-Ingushetia
-Kalingrad Oblast
-Karelia

Or any of the other dozens of regions in Russia that want independence that Russia refuses to grant?

Russia conviently uses secession movements to advance their national interests in hopes of creating a greater Eurasian Organization to act as a counter balance to the EU/Euro zone. Don't try to act like what Russia is doing us right. They are violating the sovereign territory of former states that they treated horribly in the USSR days. Do you not remember in the post WWII days of forcible annexation of many of these countries? You man crush on Putin is showing BTW!

Bump for Rasputin.

They're mostly just chasing ratings. Remember all the missing white women sagas?

I wasn't talking about covering the same stories because I can understand that. I'm talking about media using the exact same phrases that has been carefully worded to get maximum effect.

Using "vast right wing conspiracy" as an example. You would think media would have had different variations like "conservative conspiracy", "right wing conspiracy", or "republican plot". Instead they all said the exact same phrase on the same day. And if you look closely, it happens a lot.

We know that Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingushetia had a lot of outside Muslim influences coming into the areas and stirring up most of those conflicts. No different than the outside provocateurs that started up the entire Ukraine debacle. Its hard for me to defend an independence movement when you have people from the outside pulling the strings and they don't resort to democratic referendums but to engaging in war.

I haven't seen anything about Kaliningrad Oblast having a major thirst for independence as much as I appear to see that the NATO/EU nations surrounding it are making it hard for the exclave to connect with Russia.

Karelia may be more of a legit argument. I read that they have had recently some talk or desire to either join Finland or declare independence, but it seems there isn't enough of a groundswell there to get any traction.

You asked for my opinion, and all of this is based on what little bit of brief research I was able to do. But if you have more, I would be interested to hear your take and see what information you have.

And who could forget "gravitas"?

Vague observation is vague.

At any rate, there's not a central office writing talking points for all the news outlets to copy.

The Chechens don't view themselves as having anything in common with Russia. Same goes for the rest of the rouge Muslim states. This outside influence you speak of has been prominent in the region since the expansion of Islam centuries ago.

Tony Abbott tells Vladimir Putin to consider apology and compensation for MH17 | World news | The Guardian

Abbott, who had previously threatened to “shirtfront” Putin over Russia’s alleged role in the shooting down of the passenger plane over eastern Ukraine in July, emphasised the need for all countries to abide by the United Nations Security Council resolution 2166 and fully co-operate with the independent investigation.

Abbott’s office said the prime minister indicated he “was in possession of information suggesting that MH17 was destroyed by a missile from a launcher that had come out of Russia, was fired from inside eastern Ukraine and then returned to Russia”.

Then show the evidence, Australia...

The Causes of the MH17 Crash are “Classified”. Ukraine, Netherlands, Australia, Belgium Signed a “Non-disclosure Agreement” | Global Research

free and clear media just like the elections. no wonder Putin is so popular when he is the only one the media is allowed to talk about. many of their 'debates' are jokes as well, they frame a question to Putin, who gives a good strong answer then turn around and ask the 'opposition' about the most popular/strongest point Putin made and if they agree or not. its disgusting.

if the UN is hosting an emergency meeting later today it speaks of something going on. I don't know if they have before for this conflict.

Serious question.....say that Russia is deploying it's own troops and equipment across the border....how do you think the UN, or better yet, NATO reacts?

How has it reacted the last six months?

I'm talking about a definitive convoy of Russian marked tanks, Russian marked equipment and men in Russian uniforms crossing the border.

Not a 5 sec clip of a Buk missel launcher on YouTube. Not a fabricated interview.

If this was such a blatant incursion of the Russian military it would be awful hard to hide I believe. Where is the proof positive videos or photo evidence?

I'm not naive enough to think that men and equipment arent crossing the border in support of the pro-Russian side, but the way WM portrays this it's an all out invasion from the Russian army.

Remember Georgia?? That's what happens when the Russian army invades another country..

Well hopefully NATO does jack, because they aren't part of NATO, hopefully the UN does something, as Velo points out, is not what they have been doing. I don't know if that is more sanctions by the UN, which would include China and all that expansion into the Asia. Or more direct military action in at least helping defend Ukraine. I think that if it is confirmed that they (UN) at least move the troops they have in Poland into Ukraine, and put them near the border and wait on something to happen.

so as long as they aren't marked its ok? so all we need to do is remove those pesky american flags from our uniforms then we have no reason to complain about our troops in Syria right?
