Well, the Kentucky game is 3 days and 7 minutes away. What does everyone think about our chances this game. I say that without Lofton, we may be wasting 2 hours of our life by watching this game. With Lofton, we have a 30/70 chance of winning in Rupp.

road games in the sec have proven tough. i don't see this being any different.

I agree. But I think having Lofton would give us a sliver of hope. Having someone that is capable of dropping 30 on the best teams he faces isn't going to hurt our cause.

don't disagree...but to date, we haven't exactly been road warriors with Lofton.......last year not withstanding, we all know our history in Rupp.

UT wins by 16. Passley has a great game and childress posts a double double. Yeah, that's right.

I'm afraid that we might lose by an unsettling margin. Without Lofton, our outside threat is missing, and the defense can focus more on the big guys inside. I just don't know where our points are going to come from.

Sadly I think we get blown out unless Chism and Crews can somehow get it going. Passley acts like he's never been on a court before or knows what to do with a b-ball. Good golly we need Lofton!!!

If the game is close down the stretch, I wonder if they would put Lofton in after a timeout for purely catch-and-shoot duty - particularly a last-second shot.

Of course, the game may not be close down the stretch. But this year's Wildcats aren't exactly Rupp's Runts or the Unforgettables out there. They used to be virtually unbeatable at Rupp Arena - that's simply not the case now. At times, they seriously struggle to score. They play tough on-ball defense, but I just don't think they have the offensive firepower to run away with it. If we shoot well (particularly JaJuan, always a wildcard), we can hang with them, I think, even without Lofton and at Rupp.

You know that not playing at Rupp has to be KILLING Lofton... he loves playing there, had a great game in UT's huge win there last year, and I know he wants nothing more to stick it to Tubby, who mysteriously failed to recruit him. (thanks!)

Kentucky will be motivated.

UT right now is playing like a deer caught in headlights. It will take every bit of coaching ingenuity Pearl has to keep this game from getting out of hand.

I don't think that there is any chance that this happens. If he is unable to play, I don't think he would have any chance of getting open for a last second shot. UK's best defender would be on him like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm.

Kentucky will certainly have to play better than they have of late. If I were coaching against them, I'd pack in the tightest zone I could get in and dare them to shoot it to beat me. Worst shooting team in the conference by big margin and they don't get Morris enough touches. Best shooter is Perry (ugliest player in the conference) and he's done if he misses his first couple. I don't like our chances if we run because we give up truckloads of transition garbage that we haven't lately been offsetting with TOs and threes.

My $.02

It will not be as bad as the epic 101-40 loss to UK in the SEC tournament that Wade Houston presided over.

The only time I've seen UK play this year, Morris had a big game at UNC. That doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The saddest part is that loss occurred only a couple of weeks after UT upset the Wildcats in TBA.

EDIT: 2/24/93 UT 78, #2 KY 77
3/12/93 #4 KY 101, UT 40

A 62 point swing in 2.5 weeks.
