UK football stadium

I was there in 2021. Felt very cold, like a professional game or something. Not a lot of culture or character.

It was a wild game, back-and-forth. I had a Kentucky fan sitting next to me and we were having pleasant banter during the first half. Our defense finally stopped Kentucky and they turned the ball over on downs at our 26 yard line with 16 seconds left on the clock in the first half. I turned to him and said, “you guys left too much time on the clock”. He looked at me and chuckled. 15 seconds later, after a great drive by HH, we kicked a 43 yard field goal to end the half. I looked at him and said, “told you”. He didn’t look at me for the rest of the game.

The good guys won 45 to 42. It was awesome!
That was a great game

Funny Lexington memory: Kitties were playing Vols tough & KY crowd was becoming vocal....then a guy wearing a Duke cap walked up the aisle & all those blue boyz started booing...they forgot all about Tennessee in remembering Christian Laettner. 😎 Tennessee won the game, of course.
That guy had game.

Been to their stadium twice. Froze my azz off twice. One year someone had a fire in a big barrel on the field.
Not a fan of Lexington. Found it boring.

I went in 2023 and we had a good time. The fans weren’t bad at all surprisingly. Lexington is a sleepy little town and the game day pre-game is weak sauce. We sat in the end zones and got our seats through UT.
Honestly, Lexington is probably my best away game experience. Mizzou wasn't bad either.

I went in 2017, when we lost to them (awful game but the overall trip was fun). Went to the final weekend of races at Keeneland and toured Buffalo Trace. The game was in October that year but it still got really cold. We sat in the corner of the end zone opposite the jumbotron. Both teams were bad that year and there was very little energy around town or around the stadium before the game. Tailgating was sparse, but the UK fans we ran into were nice. They had more than already moved on to basketball season.

The stadium isn't bad or ugly - it's just generic. It's like if you went to a generative AI prompt and typed "show me a picture of a football stadium."
Same and same. I grew up in a horse town (Saratoga Springs*, NY) and had never been to a track before. It was fun.

*I finally attended Saratoga this past weekend.

Lexington is a sleepy little town? I have been to 49 states and 35 countries and it is one of our favorite places anywhere. Some people seem to disagree with you:

Lexington, KY, is frequently recognized as a top place to live in the United States. It consistently ranks high in various "best places" lists, particularly for its quality of life, job market, and value. U.S. News & World Report ranked Lexington 15th on its "Best Places to Live" list, highlighting its strong job market and high quality of life. Lexington also received high marks for its blend of Southern and Midwestern influences, creating a unique living experience.

  • WalletHub: Recognized Lexington as one of the best-run cities in the nation, specifically noting its strong operational efficiency and quality of city services.

  • Niche: Considered Lexington the 32nd best city to live in America.

  • Livability.com: Recognized Lexington as one of the best places to live in the US in 2024.

  • Condé Nast Traveler: Ranked Lexington as one of the top 6 best cities in the United States, according to Greater Lexington.

  • Southern Living: Featured Lexington among its 25 best cities in the South.
At the end of the day, it's still KY though

Whoever is going should wear orange shirts with peacocks on them.

The last time that I was there was for the 07 game where we broke their hearts, so it was enjoyable. Otherwise, compared to Neyland it feels like a Sun Belt stadium.

I’m sorry if I offended you. I was just giving my honest opinion. Outside of the campus and Keeneland, it seemed rather slow and boring. Granted, I am used to living in major cities, so maybe that’s why I felt that way.

It is a cold place. The wind feels like it is hitting you from every direction.

I have been there 8 times. It was always really easy to get great tickets. Almost as easy as Vandy tickets. My first wife's bossy first husband was a UK alumini alumnus (dur ta der). It was tough being the stepfather to a young Wildcats fan. Anytime my stepson brought up the rivalry to tell me they were going to beat us that season, it became really challenging to respond and not feel like I was being a snob or a bullying a 10 year old kid. --edit by addition

Haven't been to a game since 2013, except 2 bowl games. Dooley and the AD Hamilton made me swear off actively supporting what was going on. I'll go back to Neyland someday.
All stadiums in Tennessee and North of Tennessee are going to be cold in November and December. They all are laid out North to South which is the normal air flow. I sat on 6 inches of ice at a Kentucky game when I was in college back in the 1950s and enjoyed every moment of the game. Football is nt a game for sissies, players or fans.

Too hot or too cold. and 3 or 4 games with autumn and windy weather mixed in.

No problem perhaps I should have said our favorite medium sized city. It is also one of the most unique cities we have been in with the surrounding horse farms.
